As if Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag didn't have enough to fight about, now The Hills' leading ladies are arguing over money, reports In Touch Weekly.
It's shocking, but MTV actually shells out a lot of cash to follow around the rich, Californian, twenty-something cast of the hit "reality" show.
Conrad makes a reported $75, 000 US per episode for bringing the drama and the constant stream of mascara-covered tears rolling down her face each week. But Conrad's high salary, which greatly exceeds the rest of the cast, is making some waves with the rest of the group.
"The only reason LC gets paid more than anyone else is because she demanded in her original contract that no one could ever get paid more than her," said an insider.
Montag and boyfriend Spencer Pratt both earn a reported $65, 000 an episode, while cast mates Audrina Patridge takes home $35, 000 an episode, and Whitney Pope makes $20,000 for each show she appears in.
Lesser characters like Lauren "Lo" Bosworth and Brody Jenner make $10,000 an episode, while relative Hillian newcomer Stephanie Pratt makes $8,000 an episode, according to In Touch.
And as for Jenner's BFF Frankie Delgado, his time on the show is pure pro bono.
"The salaries are based on who people care about watching more," says a mole. "If you bring drama, you'll get more money."
