After graduating from the eminent Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, cinematic composer and game orchestrator Shiro Hamaguchi joined reputable anime and video game music production company Imagine. He soon gained a reputation for producing dramatic versatile cinematic works with arrangements for Violinist of Hamelin and the Sakura Taisen series and scores for Ehrgeiz and AWOL.
Following three orchestrations for the Final Fantasy VII Reunion Tracks, Hamaguchi had a recurring role on the Final Fantasy series between 1998 and 2004 arranging opening and ending themes, vocal ballads, orchestral albums, and piano collections. He also provided the source material for the highly successful 20020220, Tour de Japon, Dear Friends, More Friends, VOICES, Distant Worlds, and PLAY! concerts.
Despite the popularity of his game works, Hamaguchi is chiefly an anime composer. He has scored Dinozaurs, Final Fantasy: Unlimited, Kiddy Grade, and Megumi no Daigo and had recurring roles on the Ah! My Goddess, One Piece, and Crayon Shin-Chan series. After studying jazz composition at Berklee, he has recently returned to Imagine to score Anata wo Wasurenai, Ookiku Furikabutte, and Rosario + Vampire.
