There seems to be an almost universal yearning for personal spiritual growth and development, which is nurtured in the experience of listening. The Listening Center was called into being as a response to this need. The Center is your center - that inner most part of you where in the silence you remember who you are. You become the center for listening.

The premise of this work is that listening is a creative force that transforms relationships. Listening is being fully present. Listening is a sacred art. It is what happens when two or more people are deeply listening to each other. It is an awareness that not only are we present to each other, we are present to something that is spiritual, holy, sacred.

We create a place to explore this spiritual approach to the art of listening. We find that access to listening as a sacred art is available through a fundamental context that is exemplified by three qualities: Silence, Reflection and Presence. They work together in an organic process. Each call for practices to develop the skill of deep listening.

Silence, or contemplative listening is listening to God and exploring relationship with Source.

Reflection, reflective listening is listening to yourself - getting to know the voice of your soul.

Presence, heart listening is listening to others, taking the time to connect with others, heart to heart.

The intentions for the course are to :

• Enhance your capacity to listen to people with    different belief systems.
• Heighten your awareness and sensitivity to    opportunities for deep listening.
• Communicate with courage and compassion.
• Speak clearly from your heart.

Truly listening to someone is one of the greatest gifts we give to each other. Listening from our hearts- open and waiting for the other to speak what is truly in their heart - is a ministry of hospitality. It is holy work. Speaking from the heart takes courage - to risk and be vulnerable with another. Connecting with someone at the heart level is a sacred experience.

The Listening Center designs and presents programs throughout the United States and internationally. Kay Lindahl conducts classes, workshops and retreats on the sacred art of listening for religious, spiritual, community and business groups.
