July 14, 2008 - If you've been reading IGN TV at all for the past year or so, you know that we've never shied away from covering Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. We covered the show before it aired, we followed it closely in its first truncated season and now we're eagerly awaiting the new season which will be a proper 22 episodes. We were on hand at the Television Critics Association event in Beverly Hills where the cast and creators of the show talked about the new season of the show.

Most of the cast was present, save for new regular Richard T. Jones and new cast member Shirley Manson – who were both busy filming. New cast member Leven Rambin joined the panel, along with Garrett Dillahunt and Brian Austin Green, who have gone from recurring roles to regular cast members. Cast regulars Summer Glau, Thomas Dekker and Lena Headey also were brought front and center along with creator Josh Friedman and producers John Wirth and James Middleton.

Friedman talked about the direction the second season is going, explaining that these episodes will be "less serialized" as Friedman felt the show got a bit too complicated. He talked about making the show a bit "less ambitious" in terms of stuffing information and story threads into each episode. However, that doesn't mean the show won't have it's overall arc and continuing threads – because it "absolutely will" continue to do that. In fact, Friedman says that when he pitched the show he had four seasons worth of ideas – and "those still hold true."

Leven Rambin talked about her role as "Riley." "She's a normal high school girl," Rambin said, adding "She's not in on their connection, and is on the outside. It's interesting to interact with these people who have so many secrets." Friedman explained that he wanted to have someone in the cast who wasn't a robot or time traveler – as everyone was becoming just that. He then explained that FOX head Kevin Reilly really wanted a girl added to the cast sooner than later, so that's where the character got her name.
