The Dark Knight, Heath Ledger
starstarstarstar
Even without Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker, Christopher Nolan's pitch-black sequel to BATMAN BEGINS (2005) would be a tour de force. But Ledger's mesmerizingly damaged agent provocateur is the film's dark heart, a presence so malevolently unpredictable that it remains palpable even when he's not on screen. • Dark Knight | The TVGuide.com Interns' Blog | 7/17/2008 New
Hey everyone, sorry for the delay! There were some tech problems but now everything is fixed. On another note, only one day left until Dark Knight! I know Batman fans everywhere are counting down the minutes. The cast, previews, and overall hype for the movie have definitely made Dark Knight the movie of the summer. In the movie, Gotham City is under attack and being terrorized by various criminal organizations. With the help of Harvey Dent (played by Aaron Eckhart) and Lieutenant James Gordon (Gary Oldman), Batman is responsible for saving the city of Gotham. However, the Joker won’t go down without a fight…or will he go down at all? This insane mastermind might make the outcome of this movie a case where the good guy doesn’t always win in the end. When I first saw the previews for Dark Knight, I couldn’t believe that Heath Ledger was able to transform himself into the psychotic Joker. I’m looking forward to seeing how the dynamic between Christian Bale as... read more
  • The Dark Knight Shines Bright at World Premiere | Party Central: The Latest Buzz from Your Favorite Stars | 7/16/2008 New
Rolling out the red black carpet on Monday night, New York City truly became Gotham as the stars of this summer's most talked-about movie, The Dark Knight, stepped out at the film's world premiere. Nearly all in attendance were dressed in the same somber tones of the carpet (presumably as a tribute to the late Heath Ledger, whose portrayal of the Joker is the film's biggest buzz-drawer), but there was still plenty of excitement in the air. While Ledger was on the minds and tongues of many, the stars also chose to use the evening to celebrate the film, which has had those lucky enough to screen it early (myself included) gushing for the past couple of weeks.Michael Caine, who reprises his role as Bruce Wayne's loyal butler Alfred, said the film has an "extraordinary intelligence at work," referring to cowriter/director Christopher Nolan and his epic vision for the sequel to the franchise rebooting Batman Begins. "It's not like the usual cartoon or big blockbuster," Caine said. "All... read more

  • New Batman DVD Sets Stage for Dark Knight's Arrival | Today's News: Our Take | 7/7/2008
The latest Batman movie, The Dark Knight, doesn't open until July 18, but an animated DVD out 10 days earlier should satisfy any Caped Crusader cravings. Batman Gotham Knight helps set the stage for Christopher Nolan's feature film, with a series of six interlocking animé tales. The voice cast of this visually stunning interpretation of the DC Comics legend includes Kevin Conroy, who played the title character in Batman: The Animated Series and later in Justice League, ER's Parminder Nagra, Ugly Betty's Ana Ortiz and ex-CSI star Gary Dourdan. Ortiz plays Detective Anna Ramirez,a part she was also up for in The Dark Knight. She lost out to Monique Curnen but got a unique second chance for the animated version. "I audition for so many things, it all just sort of rolls off your back," she says. "But I was glad that I got to play her one way or the other. And I get to put my own spin on it." She worked closely with Dourdan, who plays Ramirez's partner, Detective Crispus Allen.... read more
