AFL Draft - key dates

The NAB AFL Draft, NAB AFL Pre-Season draft and AFL Rookie Draft are all set to take place over the coming months. Please see below for timetable information regarding each draft.
Club Participation
Each AFL club must make at least three selections in the NAB AFL Draft.
Timetable
Wednesday October 31
All clubs lodge a Primary List of up to 35 names, including players promoted from the Rookie List and those eligible to be nominated under the Father/Son Rule. A club may retain, with the players' permission, rookie players on its Rookie List for a second or third season, as well as scholarship players.

All new players wishing to be drafted by an AFL club must nominate by 2pm. This nomination stands for three years, and then must be re-submitted.

Clubs lodge their Primary Lists, before the NAB AFL Draft Selection Meeting, enabling the Draft Selection Order to be established.
Wednesday, November 21, 2007
Delisted AFL Players must complete and lodge a Draft Nomination form by 2pm on November 21 to be eligible for the NAB AFL Draft.
Saturday, November 24, 2007
The NAB AFL Draft Selection Meeting starts at 10am.
Club participation
The AFL Pre-Season draft is non-compulsory Draft for AFL clubs.

The deadline for listed and uncontracted players to lodge nomination forms to declare themselves available for the NAB AFL Pre -Season Draft.

Clubs are required to have decided to the extent of their player list and lodge this list with the AFL. Should that list be reduced below 38 players an eligible club must select the number of players it requires to fill its list.
