  • Exclusive: Heroes Alumna Befriends an Army Wife | Today's News: Our Take | 6/30/2008
Thanks to her increasingly popular radio show on the post, Army Wife Pamela (Brigid Brannagh) is about to get just a little bit famous. And helping her get there will be a local newspaper reporter played by Tawny Cypress.Cypress, who last was seen getting accidentally (and fatally) shot by her artist-beau, Isaac, on NBC's Heroes, has been booked for a multi-episode Army Wives arc (kicking off Aug. 3) as a journo who gives Pamela some ink. In working on the story, the two ladies form a "close... read more

We caught up with Brigid Brannagh, the actress behind Pamela, to see what she had to say about her outspoken character. — Gina DiNunnoTVGuide: Pamela's character seems to have lightened up a bit more this season. • Ask Matt | 6/20/2008
Q: I wanted to ask your thoughts about the Army Wives second season opener. I've just finished watching it, and I can't stop crying. I'm not usually a crier with television shows, but for some reason this show just gets to me. I'm not an Army wife or girlfriend, but I just love a compelling show that's excellently written and acted, and AW is just that. It was such a shock to find out in the end of the episode that it was all a dream that Claudia Joy was having and that her daughter Amanda was... read more
  • Ten-Hut! Army Wives Is Back on Duty! | TV Show Previews | 6/19/2008
Not many TV shows earn promotional shout-outs from both John McCain and Barack Obama. But endorsing Army Wives? A political no-brainer. The hit Lifetime drama (Sundays at 10 pm/ET), after all, depicts with sensitivity — and soap-operatic flourish — the lives of American military families. The candidates' high-profile tributes were the latest signs of success for the network's most popular show, which scored record ratings for its second-season opener as well as an official thumbs-up... read more
  • Exclusive: Army Wives Enlists Ugly Betty's Sister | Today's News: Our Take | 6/16/2008
While the rest of Ugly Betty cast makes the move to New York City for Season 3, Ana Ortiz will be making a pit stop in Charleston, S.C. There, the increasingly in-demand actress will film a plum guest-star gig on Army Wives. On Lifetime's sizzling summer series, Ortiz will play Sandi, a litigious waitress who gets mixed up with Roxy (Sally Pressman) and Trevor (Drew Fuller). Speaking of Betty's cross-country move, I'll answer a burning question on the mind of many readers in this Tuesday's Mega... read more
  • Army Wives Recruits Lifetime's Biggest Audience | Today's News: Our Take | 6/9/2008
Thanks in part (I have to believe) to TVGuide.com's video Q&A with Catherine Bell and her miles upon miles of telegenic gams, Army Wives returned to an audience of 4.5 million total viewers on Sunday night, making it the highest-rated original drama series telecast in Lifetime's 24-year history. What's more, versus the Season 1 premiere, it represented a 67 percent increase in the women 18-49 demo. What's your take? Does Army Wives in some ways mark the "official" arrival of quality summer... read more

While out promoting the second season of Lifetime's hit series Army Wives, Catherine Bell (who plays Denise Sherwood) stopped by to chat about everything from characters being killed off after the explosion cliffhanger to a new McDreamy joining the cast. Fun Fact: Did you know Bell is an avid motorcyclist? Hard to picture such a dainty little thing riding a hog, but it garners lots of "awesome" points in our book! read more

  • A Smorgasbord of Summer TV | Roush Review | 6/4/2008
Used to be that TV?s off-season really meant ?lights out.? No longer. As you?ll see throughout this Summer Preview issue, the variety of TV on display from June through August is even more eclectic than it often is during the regular season, ranging from the good (So You Think You Can Dance) and the awful (a new batch of The Moment of Truth episodes) to the exquisite (a second season of Mad Men on the horizon). The first wave of summer TV is already upon us, with new and returning series and... read more
  • Army Wives Enlists Soap Stud to Ring Catherine's Bell | Ausiello Report | 5/20/2008
Well, this doesn't bode well for ol' Major Frank: Army Wives has cast General Hospital alum Seamus Dever — he was Ian Devlin, doctor by day, hit man by night — as a new love interest for Catherine Bell's Denise. The actor, who's also guested on NCIS and JAG, will appear in at least four episodes of the Lifetime soap's second season (which kicks off June 8) as hot doc Getti at Mercer Hospital. You know the type... funny and flirtatious, with a motorcycle in the parking lot to boot.... read more
  • Exclusive: Army Wives Boss Relieved of Duty | Ausiello Report | 3/31/2008
Army Wives' top lieutenant is stepping down. Show-runner Dee Johnson was relieved of her duties over the weekend, sources confirm to me exclusively. Johnson's ouster — the result of creative differences with producer ABC Studios — marks the third show-runner change the Lifetime drama has weathered in a little over a year. Samantha Corbin-Miller was the first to go AWOL in Dec. 06. She was replaced a few months later by Jeff Melvoin (Alias), who stuck around until last August, at which... read more

  • Catherine Bell Takes a Leave from the Army for Some Family Fun | TV Guide Interviews & Features | 1/18/2008
Catherine Bell's trading in her army-wife stripes tonight for some supernatural potions in Hallmark's original movie The Good Witch (9 pm/ET). Best known for her roles as Lt. Col. Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie in JAG (NBC: 1995-6; CBS: 1997-2005), and currently as Denise Sherwood in Lifetime's Army Wives, tonight she plays the enchanting Cassie Nightingale, a newcomer to a small town who can't decide if she's a witch or not. • Ask Matt | 1/11/2008
I often wonder if, as a critic, you can put aside your own personal tastes when it comes time to review a show. I wonder this because I can tell how well done and creative the FX dramas are, but they are so graphic and depressing that they don't interest me in the least. (I did try to watch a few.) I've been reading your reviews for years, and it seems to me that as long as a show is "quality," you are willing to give it at least a mildly good review. Do your personal tastes affect your ... read more

I'm just wondering how summer television (specifically The Closer, Burn Notice and Army Wives) will be affected by the strike? Also, will the fall TV shows air originals during the summer, or will they end abruptly and pick up where they left off in the fall? read more

I'm a faithful reader of yours, and I'm hoping that you might share what you've heard about the possibility of Lifetime's Side Order of Life returning for a second season. It didn't seem to get much attention after its premiere, but I found it to be a charming little show for Sunday evenings to help me ease back into the work week. I particularly enjoyed Diana-Maria Riva's performance as Vivy. It was great to see a strong yet vulnerable woman fighting a devastating disease with such grace and... read more
  • Army Wives' Brigid Brannagh Does Double Duty on K-Ville | TV Guide News Report | 10/19/2007
She won rave reviews for her feisty portrayal of a cop turned surrogate mom on Army Wives. But Brigid Brannagh isn’t content to take a hard-earned break while her critically acclaimed Lifetime show is on hiatus. “I just got back from New Orleans doing K-Ville,” Brannagh told TV Guide at the Los Angeles premiere of the Lifetime Original Movie Matters of Life & Dating. The actress plays “a gal in a robbery gang” in an upcoming episode, scheduled to air Nov. 12. Cole... read more
