Information

Orcish is the language spoken by Orcs. It also doubles as Horde Common.

Testing

Me (janzak, Horde) and Spider, Alliance, on Bloodscalp (EU) tried this table of numbers and came to a conclusion about the whole language system. It is NOT directly translatable, you can construct weeny messages but you have to stick to what you are given. This is what we got when I (Horde) said numbers to Alliance. Which means, I as a Tauren say 125 (In Orcish) and a Human will hear "kil".

(If you can't line the words up, copy the whole table and put it in notepad with the Courier New font.)

As you can see, the words the other faction will see is pre-made words chosen from a seed - the word or number. There are a number of pre-made words for each length of words up to some specific, then it just randomly chooses.

You can not directly translate anything, look at the emotes and that's it. You can, like I said, still construct sentences… but it's hard.

Same thing applies from the Alliance but they use more common phrases which make it easier for them to communicate. Here's a sample of our tests;

Remember this works with letters too;

Orcish: a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z
Common: g g o l o a o o l n l n a o l n g n n l l l a n o g

Which means; a Tauren says (In Orcish) "d e d" and a Human gets "l o l". The other way around;

Common: a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z
Orcish: o e o y y e o y o e o o o o y u e y y y y y y y o e

"h i" becomes "y o".

EDIT: I (janzak) talked to Blizzard and they don't recommend making that plugin because it allows cross-faction communication (against the TOS). Feel free to e-mail me though if you need help in making the plugin yourself.

EDIT 2: So I stopped playing WoW. You can still e-mail me about this though but don't expect me to want to program stuff or the likes, I can help you with what I know but you'll have to do the dirty work.

EDIT 3: Okay, anyone interested in what I got from this? I uploaded the simple .txt file I got from an evening of testing to http://files.upl.silentwhisper.net/upload8/Saved_says.txt . You can still e-mail me though, but have something to say because I recieve a lot of e-mails on this :P

Alliance can also say Me Love You to Horde by typing this "ag ee oo p" Horde will see that as Me love you. Horde can also say Ha Ha Ha by typing "As as as" or lol by typing "K e K"

Why is there such a large amount of translations available for Alliance who want to speak to Horde, but if I as a Horde want to speak to Alliance, there is nothing? Please, if someone has a link where I can find a similar table to the one on the Common Language page for those from the Horde POV speaking to Alliance, I would be greatful to see it.

I know that when an alliance toon says Fucker it comes out as Mandos on horde side (which coincedentally is the name of my toon, hence why i went to find this out)

Well i play EUBloodfeather and EUSunstrider as two different factions, and as horde i see people shouting: "E p g Ee ff" which i believe translates to "Y o u Lo se" can anyone confirm this?

Whoa, I found out lots of words that can be made with only the 1 and 2 letters "words". I am workign on getting 3 and even 4 letter words soon, I will post my results on a new page when i am done my researching. I might also add some common phrases or useful macros ^_^

Registering doesn't work ATM so I'm playing Anonymous for now ;)

This is what I did for my little Emote macro (basically).

Simply extract the LanguageWords database and find out which language has which language id.
Look for all words with 1/2/3/4../13 letters and write em down.
Login as a crossfaction char and SendChatMessage to yourself with the language you want to make up phrases for.
After you got all the input->output language pairs (thus eg. all entries for 2 letter words in the db for the given language) start making up phrases using your own database of words.

I have discovered something very important that will help this project. While speaking on ventrilo with some alliance friends, I, an Undead Rogue said lol in gutterspeak. The allies heard "bur" which is exactly what horde hear when allies say lol. After a bit more testing we came to the conclusion that Common and Gutterspeak are translated in the exact same manner.

Example: When an ally would type the phrase "ss '' oo 8 1 0" a horde would hear "me lo ve y o u". They same statement, "ss '' oo 8 1 0" when written in gutterspeak is translated to both horde and alliance as "me lo ve y o u". Undead of course see the statement as written.

This leads me to believe that the 4 languages of each faction matchup. Maybe troll is like gnomish or something. Worth a test.

Instead of trying to find full words, i think it will be MUCH more productive to work on creating words from sylabols (sp).

Instead of trying to say "Hello Mr Gnome" try "He l lo mr g no me". It may look retarded but it is better then "fjn43tkn3ckfnxw" o_O

just my 2 cents, this is awsome and i wil ldo a lto of research into and post my results soonish

Hello, I have been studying this subject for quite some time. Basically, I have made the same findings as posted here. Just sequences of numbers and letters to make sounds. So far, I have yet to come up with a sentense or something remotely similar. However, I have also been experimenting with ASCII art as a way to communicate with the Alliance. I have created bunchs of ASCII scripts, but have yet to discover if they can read objects such as ( ) _ - #, etc. etc. Has anyone tested this? I might be possible to use the /me command to a macro like /me writes, screams, says: etc. etc. and then type in your message with ASCII. All ASCII scripts of course need a macro cause they take up several lines. The only downfall to doing this is that creatings ASCII scripts takes work. Scripts copied from textpad will not come out the same as they appear. They take lots of tweaking to make them work. I was working this whole communication with a friend, but he left WoW and now I have no money to play. Please, someone tell me their findings. I will be posting scripts on my guild's webpage. I will link it when done.

actually tried it on my husbands ally char and my horde char in gadget "mu" comes out as "ha" hence mu mu in orc reads as haha to alliance most likely they are changing them every so often to keep us smart asses from figuring it out.

Can you tell us backwards orc? I've found that there are english words when said in different languages. For example, I've found other races see a troll saying "noh" (no) when in reality the troll said ehd. The race saying it reads it as gibberish but is quite useful to talk with alliance. This idea occured to me when an alliance screamed "I L O V E U A L L" in elvish. Notice he used spaces. Here are the only words in the troll language that are understandable; no=im, wa=so, eche=ting (thing), an=yu (you), ju=is, gasp=cyaa, igig=duti (duty) fij=deh (the), ehd=noh (no) and iiish=wassa (was a) Long comment ain't it?

I know it is two letter encryption, because "AB AB OK" translates into "HA HA NO" going from Horde to Alliance. You should think about checking out the 2 letter combinations. :)

I think it will be usable if you try not only the characters from a-z but also all possible combinations from aa-zz or if you heave enough energy from aaa-zzz. i.e. EE EE Means HA HA.

It is possible… It appears that there is no randomization done here.

In my opinion Blizzard has already set up a few words for each side (a la Zug Zug)

The rest are via computer.

If I were blizzard, the most plausable idea would be to not only do an alphabetical encryption, but to have the language be speakable to the human tongue have some two-letter encryptions (IE Syllable encryption)

When horde try to say "bur" back to alliance it shows up as "lok". When alliance try and say "kek" back to horde it shows up as "ver".

let's not forget "zug zug" means 'yes' or 'affirmative'. Other Orcish terms:

Lok'tar (Ogar) Throm'ka Mok'gra

I'm not sure what these terms mean exactly but they're commonly used as greetings or battle cries in WoW and WC3.
