Licensing
Macrovision licenses leading content protection and interactive program guide (IPG) technologies to third parties to help protect and facilitate navigation of entertainment media. Licenses are available for Macrovision’s ACP technology, the world's leading device-to-device content protection system. Patent licenses for Macrovision's IPGs are available to third-party guide developers, such as consumer electronics manufacturers and cable and satellite operators.
Implementing ACP Technology
Inclusion of Macrovision ACP technologies within CE, PC and IC products supports the delivery of consumer content to today's digital consumer—and is a necessary step towards compliance with U.S. copyright laws. Macrovision technologies also aid in compliance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and, where applicable, the DVD Copy Control Association's (DVD CCA) Content Scramble System (CSS) license. Macrovision offers both licensing programs and certification services for the proper incorporation of flexible content protection and management solutions into a variety of hardware devices.
Macrovision's interactive program guides (IPGs) enable consumers to discover relevant, new content and navigate to the programming that interests them most. Macrovision licenses IPG technology to third party guide developers, including cable and satellite providers, consumer electronics manufacturers, set-top box manufacturers, interactive television software providers, and program guide providers in the online, computer, and mobile phone businesses.
