China's miserable qualifying campaign for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ took another turn for the worse with a dispiriting 1-0 home loss to Qatar.

Qatar won a penalty in the 14th minute, which was converted by their naturalised Uruguayan striker, Sebastian Quintana. The Qataris managed to hold off the hosts for the remainder of the match to claim a vital three points. Qatar now stand on top of Asian Group 1 with seven points, level with Australia, who face Iraq later today.

China are now in serious trouble, trailing the group leaders by four points with only two games to play in the group. Qatar, meanwhile, have made a magnificent recovery after their first-up 3-0 loss to Australia.
