Want to get into the database and be published in the book? This FAQ should answer most of your questions.

Why Does Twin Galaxies Make You Prove Your Score?
Since 1982, Twin Galaxies has been the official scorekeeper for the entire world, charged with the responsibility of validating the true world records on all electronic games and preserving the integrity of the industry's repository of gaming statistics.

The primary duties of Twin Galaxies' Board of Scoreboard Editors is to separate legitimate world records from false claims. To accomplish this arduous task, each player must be patient as Twin Galaxies takes each score submission through the processes laid out below.

First, You Must Register as a Twin Galaxies Member Each player has a "Player ID," which is necessary for registering each score and keeping track of all your records. To obtain this I.D., you must register as a Twin Galaxies member. Membership is free.

Who Can Submit A Score?
Our only requirement: You must be at least 13 years old to submit scores to Twin Galaxies. When you submit a score to this database, you become a part of the historical legacy of video game playing. Electronic gamers in more than 60 countries have already become a part of the Scoreboard and have submitted their best scores for consideration in the up-coming Book of Records.

How Do I Submit A Score?
First, search for the game title on which you wish to submit a score. To do this, you go to the "Search Scores" page and use the search score tool. After you find your game and see the current scores, take notice of any rules for your game. The rules for the game must be followed. Before you start recording your game, check the "Recording FAQ" section to see the proper recording procedure for your platform.

When you're ready to submit your recordings for verification, don't forget to submit a hardcopy of the Twin Galaxies submission form along with it. If you have a wide variety of submissions, you may submit just the main submission form (The one that requires your signature) and a piece of paper detailing all your records, or you may submit online and send the printed submission form.
Twin Galaxies Submission Form Ship your tape/dvd with the submission form included to the appropriate platform referee.

Can I Submit My Score Even If It Isn't a World Record?
Anybody can submit their scores, even if they are only in 10,000th place. The Scoreboard exists to document the history of video game playing and each gamer is invited to be a part of this historical repository.

What if Your Game Is Not Yet Listed in the Scoreboard?
If you find that your game title is not yet listed in the Scoreboard, send an email to the appropriate editor on the staff page, requesting them to add your game title to the database. Then you can submit your score.

What is the difference between Verified Scores and Unverified Scores?
You will notice that some scores published in the database are unverified. These scores are older scores that were submitted with signed affidavits from witnesses or were results of contests. Today, the only scores that are accepted are scores which are captured on videotape or DVD. It is important to submit your scores with the necessary supporting documentation, because unverified scores will not be published in the Book of Records.

Will You Be Notified if Your Score is Rejected?
Yes, you will receive an email that informs you of the judges decision on the validity of your score. Scores are rejected if they were achieved on the wrong game settings, or if they are obviously fraudulent. TG members who continue to submit scores which are fraudulent will have their submission privileges revoked.

Defending Your Score
Quite often, you will receive emails from scoreboard editors, demanding an explanation on how you achieved your score, especially if the game in question is a major title which has many top players competing for high-score laurels. Inquiries like this are commonly initiated by the Scoreboard when the submitted score amounts to a new world record on a significant game.

What If A Bug or Cheat is Discovered After My Score is Approved?
Even if your score has already been declared the new world record, please be aware that your score can be removed if it is discovered that a bug or cheat was used in your game -- and, even if you didn't know about the bug. As a game gains popularity, new bugs and cheats are uncovered, quite often to the dismay of the game designers. If you submitted a videotape of your gameplay, and it is later determined by the Board of Scoreboard Editors that your game strategy involved a cheat or a bug, then you will have to replay your game and resubmit your evidence without using the cheat or bug in question. Even though the player may have been innocent, not realizing that their tactics were banned by the Scoreboard, they will still have to replay their game. Also, sometimes new games become popular and high scores are submitted long before the Scoreboard recognizes that a cheat or bug is operation. The Scoreboard reserves the right to declare a world record null and void if cheats or bugs are identified after the fact.

What Are The Rules For Playing My Game?
The rules of play are different from game to game. The "Rules," or difficulty settings under which each game must be played is published on the "Score Details" page, which can be found by clicking on any of the scores found under any title. If the rules are not published on the Score Details page for your game, ask the appropriate Editor below to supply you with the rules. These "Rules" listed for your game may also include the method of verification required for each game. The general rules for game playing can be found at the link "The Book of Rules."

What Kind of Evidence Do I submit for Verification?
All games must now be submitted on either NTSC or PAL format, and on either videotape or DVD,(No Betamax) including the entire gameplay from the first screen loading to the final screen showing the high-score table with the player's initials. Photographs are not acceptable for submissions any more and even Digital photos are not accepted because anybody can alter them.

Can I submit my GB/GBC/GBA scores using a GameBoy Player on the GameCube?
Yes, this device is actually a GBA that is designed to plug into the GameCube and use the GameCube to display the picture and handle the controls. The games play identically and therefore will be accepted as if they were played on a hand held GBA.

When will my score be posted to the database?
Your score will be posted as soon as your videotape is approved by one or more scoreboard editors. If your submission is rejected, you will be notified via email.

What happens to my video tape that I send you?
Make a copy of your videotape to send to Twin Galaxies. Do not send Twin Galaxies your only original copy. All videotapes submitted to Twin Galaxies become the property of Twin Galaxies and will not be returned. Since Twin Galaxies is a free service, expenses are minimized by avoiding the "return-postage" charges incurred by returning submission packages.
