In Russia, GTAIV Review You
Take a tour of Liberty City in this review of Grand Theft Auto's latest installment

5/27/2008
8 arrests, 167 homicides, 24 cans of Sprunk and 17 trips to the hospital later and I can safely say that I’m making quite a name for myself in Liberty City. I’ve toppled drug czars, taken on street gangs, raced the best, befriended the worst, reigned terror from the friendly skies and swiped enough vehicles to open up a nationwide dealership.

And that’s just all the things I had to do.

The Grandfathers of Video Gaming #1
From the author of The Strange and Rare of Gaming, a look back at gaming’s roots

5/17/2008
I’m sure you’re probably freaking out right about now, so let me clarify what’s going on. What you have here in front of you is a new series of articles by yours truly. Now, I’m sure you’re probably thinking to yourself “Hey, isn’t this the guy who writes bad articles about weird games? Why would he make us suffer more?”

Well, I’d love to take this opportunity to write about some of the very first video games - games that probably should receive much more credit than they get. Forget huge multi-million dollar ad campaigns, celebrity voice actors, and state-of-the-art graphics because these games were first.

indieWIRE review of new film screened at AFI Dallas 2008

It's become increasingly clear over the past year that a new [genre] has emerged in the documentary realm. Last year's Slamdance Film Festival surveyed arcade champions in "King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters," this year's South by Southwest Film Festival contained the RPG profile "Second Skin," and now AFI Dallas brings the world premiere of "Frag," quite possibly the best of the bunch.

A New Pac-Man Kill Screen Player Emerges
Jon Stoodley of Egremont, England Joins the Pac-Man Elite as the #2 Player in the World

4/6/2008
For over a quarter of a century, Twin Galaxies has collected scores for the 1980 arcade classic Pac-Man. Today, a new kill screen score from over 25 years ago has been found and added to the Twin Galaxies scoreboard.

Back in 1982, then 14 year old Jon Stoodley was one of the premier Pac-Man players of the Golden Age of Video Game Arcades. Jon was so good, in fact, that he could reach the kill screen - a nearly five hour playing marathon that culminates in the game ending due to the inability of the game to advance any further than level 256. Jon was also an avid reader of Computer & Video Games Magazine at the time, and remembered reading that they were looking for the best arcade gamers in the world to submit their scores to the magazine.
