In just two days on sale, one million copies of Pokemon Gold and Silver flew off shop shelves all across Europe. That makes the titles the fastest selling videogames ever in Europe, smashing a record previously held by n you guessed it n Pokemon Yellow. Gosh.
The first weekendis sales in Europe were enough to push Pokemon Gold and Silver to the brink of selling 10 million units worldwide. Japan has snapped up 7 million copies, and the Americans have devoured 1.8 million up to now. Can you imagine anything other than a Pokemon game going platinum in two days? Didnit think so.Nintendo will obviously hope the rampant hunger for all things Pikachu will continue into next year and beyond. The Game Boy Advance version of Pokemon will link up with Gamecube to unlock all the gameplay, making it a more potent advertisement for Gamecube than anything a marketing man could dream up.If kids could vote, thereid be Pokemon characters running every country in the world.
