Frequently Asked Questions For PR

To whom should I send press releases?
Send press releases via email to Doug Henschen and Antone Gonsalves; any press release arriving by fax or snail-mail has lowest priority. Relevant subjects include major product announcements, customer wins and acquisitions; we very rarely cover routine new partner relationships, financial results, personnel changes below the highest management levels and are definitely not interested in new office locations.

How do I get more information about items on the editorial calendar, such as who the authors are?
We provide no other information than what you see on the editorial calendar. IntelligentEnterprise.com will pass press materials along to authors when relevant and appropriate, but we're usually more interested in customer and analyst references than vendor interviews to support feature and trend articles.

What is the Web site's lead time?
Lead times vary by the type of story opportunity. Features, in-depth product reviews and how-to articles demand at least two months of preparation time. Q&A; interviews and case studies can be require as little as one week's lead time. Product news, mergers and acquisitions and other fast-breaking stories may require as little as a day's notice.

Where do I find out which editors cover which subjects?
Our editors do not have beats; rather, they follow developments in all the markets we cover. In general, Doug Henschen assigns and edits in-depth features and product tests and writes major news analysis pieces, Q&A; interviews, case studies and blogs. Antone Gonsalves focuses on breaking news and routine news announcements. Copy both editors on all major announcements.

Does Intelligent Enterprise accept vendor-bylined submissions?
To avoid conflicts of interest, we very rarely accept vendor-bylined submissions. However, we will review all submissions on a case-by-case basis.

What's the best way to persuade Intelligent Enterprise editors to cover a certain company or product?
A short email to the editors that concisely explains the relevance of the company or product for our editorial space is far and away the best way to garner editorial attention; we will reply based on available time and interest. Please be aware that the editors receive scores of such inquiries every day and they cannot reply to all of them.

Is it possible to arrange a briefing?
We frequently meet with representatives from vendors, consulting companies and user organizations. Again, a concise e-mail that explains the context of the meeting request is the best vehicle to arrange a briefing by phone. Doug Henschen is available for crucial meetings in TechWeb's New York City office. Because we receive masses of such requests, however, at least two weeks' notice is advised, and inquiries may not necessarily receive a reply..

How do I get an event listed on your events calendar?
Send event listing requests to Doug Henschen. Only public events, rather than company-specific, invitation-only events, are listed.

Does Intelligent Enterprise sponsor any awards?
Intelligent Enterprise sponsors the Intelligent Enterprise Reader's Choice Awards, and names The Dozen Most Influential companies in IT. There is no application process for the Reader's Choice Awards, which are chosen by the readers, or for The Dozen, which are chosen by the editors of Intelligent Enterprise.

How do I get more information about advertising?
