The BJP today said it would strive for a constitutional amendment to get special status to backward North Karnataka region under Article 371.
"We need to tackle the issue of Article 371, because North Karnataka region has remained neglected by all previous governments. It needs a package on model of Vidarbha," BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu said at a press meet, obviously keeping in mind the electorate in this region who will cast ballot tomorrow in the second phase in 10 districts and in third phase on May 22.
There is a upsurge in favour of BJP and the party will get comfortable majority to form the government on its own, he claimed.
"We are not depending upon survey reports. The grassroot level feedback is very clear, Karnataka is going BJP way," Naidu said.
