Now no more searching for change or waiting in serpentine queues to get platform tickets at the city’s railway stations. Mobile phone users can now buy platform tickets by typing “PFT” and sending it to 3939. This facility is availa ble to BSNL, Hutch and Airtel subscribers. In reply, the subscriber will get a five digit alphanumeric code, which can be shown to the TTR. The cost of the SMS, is same as the platform ticket and it will be billed/deducted from the customer’s bill or pre-paid currency. The service is brought by Chennai-based LatticeBridge Infotech. It has tied up with RailTel. The m-ticket cannot be forwarded. As the time of receipt of the message is indicated, the validity and expiry time can be easily arrived at.
