Gnomish is the language spoken by Gnomes.

Here are words that are used on a daily basis. Words with ? next to them are uncertain in translation.

Speaking to the Horde

It is possible to speak to players that do not speak Gnomish by carefully constructing your phrases. While you cannot talk fluently to them or understand what they say back to you, it is not difficult to have a few phrases on hand or as macros.

For example, if you say "H PalADin" in Gnomish, it will come out to a non-Gnome as "I HavAGun" ("I have a gun"). "Aa Aaa J e h" comes out as "We Dun D i e" (We don't die). With a little creativity, there are plenty of possibilities.

Here is a partial list of words that you can spell correctly using Gnomish, and how to spell them. If you are putting more than one of these words in a sentence, it is usually most readable for them if you capitalize the first letter of each word. ("E G d b q j E j e c ab d" comes out as "I A c t e d I d i o t i c" instead of "i a c t e d i d i o t i c".)
