Thrust into the media spotlight after serving time in the Big Brother house, lads’ mag favourite Chanelle Hayes is ready for her next big challenge – to find a proper day job. After acquiring and duly dumping her ‘celebrity’ boyfriend, what should self-confessed Victoria Beckham fan do to rake in the cash? Become a popstar of course! Over the next six weeks, VH1 cameras will follow Chanelle as she attempts to set the record industry alight with her vocal abilities in ‘Chanelle: Wannabe Popstar’, which launches on VH1 on April 18th at 9.30pm.
Not many celebrities are able to make the transition from big brother housemate to top-selling artist, but Chanelle is willing to put herself on the line. Signed to Eminence records, our cameras will capture Chanelle’s journey as she goes back to basics to learn how to sing and dance. Assisting her along the way, she enlists the help of singing expert David Laudat and choreographer to the stars, K Knight. But will all this be enough to transform her into a disco diva?
Follow Chanelle and her team as they choose a debut single and film her first video - then witness the tears and tantrums as Chanelle questions the whole project, panics about having two left feet and worries about how the public will perceive her.
Chanelle’s own plan of becoming a successful popstar includes a hilarious checklist involving bagging a celebrity boyfriend and purchasing a handbag puppy. Is her plan fundamentally flawed? Can she sing? And more importantly will the public welcome her into the hit parade?
