Fantastic Four: The Fantastic Four ride a homemade rocket to the stars

Remember that goofy Billy Bob Thornton movie a little while ago, the Astronaut Farmer or whatever? The one about some nutjob who builds a rocket in his silo and tries to ride it into space? Well, that dude's got nothing on the Fantastic Four, who did the same thing back before television was in color.Oh, sure, we all know now that Reed Richards is the smartest person in the universe. But back then, think about what a ginormous risk this was: just a few years removed from Sputnik and this guy was personally building a rocket that could take a whole crew into space and back?Not only that, but the guy somehow dragged his girlfriend and her teenage brother along for the ride. Why any of them thought this made sense, I don't know; but when you're a born gambler, sometimes you just have to ride the rush.
