Is this any way to treat man’s best friend?

For some people, dogs just aren’t furry enough. But is it really necessary to trick them out in custom wigs?

Apparently, yes. And Ruth Regina, founder of Wiggles Dog Wigs, is happy to help.

After fifty years of working in the entertainment industry as a makeup artist and wigmaster to the likes of Al Pacino, Demi Moore, and Kate Moss, Regina has turned her considerable talents to similarly self-absorbed personalities—dogs.

It began when a friend asked Ruth to design a wig for her beagle. One order led to another and, viola, Wiggles Dog Wigs was born. The company currently provides custom and professionally made wigs for mutts of all shapes and sizes.

Regina personally makes and designs all canine carpets, ensuring that comfort is a priority. All her wigs have ear holes and chin-adjustable straps. (Sorry Spot, no wiggling out of this mess.)

The dog wigs are made from synthetic fiber and are completely washable. Customized wigs made from human hair are also available. The price: anywhere from $18 to $29, to as high as $1,000 a pop.

Regina herself has become something of a celebrity. She recently appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman. Not missing a beat, Letterman asked her, “How drunk do you have to be to spend that kind of money on a hairpiece?”

Blind drunk.
