The 2005 edition of the game features new and improved offensive and defensive AI, new and more varied animations and visual indicators puts you into the action like never before. On the attack players ultilize 1-2 passing and through balls to penetrate the defense. Defensive players and the goal keeper work cooperatively to repulse attacks. Scenario Mode allows you to reinact great recent and historical games or change history. In Career Mode, guide a team over a number of seasons either taking them to the top of the tables through promotion or being relegated due to poor performance. As both coach and player choose your team, set your roster and dictate the style of play. If playing an offensive power house play a tighter defensive formation and counter attack when the opportunity presents itself. If playing a tough defensive minded team choose an aggressive attacking style to crack their position. Its your team to guide to victory or defeat.

The sound in FIFA 2005 is of superb quality. There's not much distortion and there are actual music tracks that appear in the in-game menus, where you spend a lot of time if you're in career mode.

A remarkable game and the improvements made since its predecessors release last year have made this game significantly superior. The game is very extensive, fun and addictive and I’m sure that it holds months and months of replay value.

While the N-Gage version doesn’t deviate far from the GBA’s formula, the graphics are cleaner, and the Bluetooth and N-Gage Arena support are welcome additions.

Has a lot more in common with its PC and console counterparts than you might expect, and it plays to the strengths of Nokia's handheld with both Bluetooth and N-Gage Arena support.

The goal animations are wanting and you may get a little cramp here as things heat up, but this is road-worthy sports gaming all the way. [Jan 2005, p.87]
