Luxembourg City may not be the first place you think of when you want to drop some hard-earned cash. A tiny landlocked country in Western Europe, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, as it is otherwise known, is bordered by Belgium, France and Germany and is populated by less than half a million people.

With the average person in Luxembourg earning nearly twice as much money as the average American, and a flourishing financial center with over hundreds of major banks, it’s not hard to see why the world’s biggest spenders are coming to Luxembourg in their well-heeled droves.

So, feel free to join them, but don’t forget your credit card so you can drop $25,000 in Luxembourg.

All prices are listed in U.S. funds.

Day 1: Lux shopping

Jet in to Luxembourg-Findel International Airport on Lux Airlines and take the best limo for hire from Colux six miles into Luxembourg City. It’ll set you back $1,000 for three days, but you don’t want to be traipsing around the place like a peasant, do you? Check in to the prestigious Le Royal Luxembourg (the only five-star hotel in the city), and unpack your designer gear in its $3,525-per-night Royal Suite, which is usually reserved for royal family members, celebrities and politicians. Setting you back a mere $10,575 for your three-night stay in the sovereign state, you’ll enjoy fine thread-count sheets, goose-down pillows, wall-mounted plasma TVs, and Jacuzzi-baths big enough to fit you and three escorts in. Not that we’re encouraging promiscuous sex in Europe, you understand.

Once you’ve settled in and tipped the bellboy, it’s time to indulge in some retail therapy, European-style. Jump in your awaiting limo and head straight to the shopping district of the Oberstadt. A mecca of materialism, at Oberstadt you’ll find all kinds of exclusive fashion boutiques, world-famous jewelers, leather shops, and big-name international labels. Pop into French watchmaker Cartier on the Grand-Rue and pick up a little gift for your lady friend back home, which should set you back no less than $5,000 if you’ve chosen right.

Next, be sure to peruse the Gallery Grand-Rue/Beaumont and the adjacent MCM center, where you’ll blow another $3,000 on designer shoes and a leather jacket for yourself. Be sure to check out the Villeroy & Boch Creation exhibition before you leave too, which showcases a dazzling array of china and crystal from the world-famous manufacturer. Snap up something for your mother’s windowsill, like $300-worth of select pieces from the super-expensive New Wave table collection, and hop back into your limo.

You’re not done dropping $25,000 in Luxembourg just yet… Next >>
