Tracy Coenen

Tracy L. Coenen, CPA, MBA, CFE is a world-class expert on fraud detection, investigation, and prevention. She performs financial investigations and fraud examinations through her company, Sequence Inc. Forensic Accounting. Her entrepreneurial flair has been profiled by the Wall Street Journal and Entrepreneur.com, and her background in the criminal justice system and at auditing firm Arthur Andersen have been combined in her passion for investigating fraud.

Tracy has personally investigated hundreds of frauds in a wide variety of industries, including cases of embezzlement, financial statement fraud, investment fraud, and insurance fraud. She has also served as an expert witness in numerous cases involving damage calculations, commercial contract disputes, shareholder disputes and criminal defense. As an expert witness, Tracy continuously demonstrates her expertise, not only on paper, but also in the courtroom. She is a skilled witness who connects with judges and juries to help them understand complex financial matters.

She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Illinois and Wisconsin, as well as a Certified Fraud Examiner. Her educational background includes an Honors Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Law Studies and a Master of Business Administration, both from Marquette University in Milwaukee.

Tracy is an Adjunct Professor at Concordia University - Wisconsin, and an Adjunct Faculty member for the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. She is a member of the Standards & Practices Committee for ACFE, a graduate of the Criminal Investigator Training Program at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, and a member of the Board of Advisors of Pyramid Scheme Alert.

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners honored Tracy as the 2007 winner of the prestigious Hubbard Award. The 40,000 worldwide members of the organization voted for the best article from the 2006 issues of Fraud Magazine, and selected Tracy’s article "Financial Statement Fraud in the Katrina Aftermath: A Whirlwind of Opportunities" as the winner.

Essentials of Corporate Fraud, Tracy's first book, will be on bookshelves in March 2008.
