Although featuring the most realistic and detailed graphics, lighting and animation you've ever seen with sound effects to match, it's still the gameplay that shines the most, combining a sublime mixture of stealth and combat with the most versatile range of moves, gadgets and tactics ever to feature in a stealth game.

One of the greatest games of all time. Splinter Cell redefines what a game should look, play, and sound like. Perhaps most amazing is not that the graphics, gameplay, and sound are so good, but that they all blend together to form a whole so well.

The second best game on the Xbox, and if first person shooters aren’t your thing, then I suppose it is the best. If you have an Xbox, you must have this game. If you don’t have an Xbox, buy the game anyway – it’s that good.

The interaction between the player, Sam and the game form a symbiotic relationship that few games have achieved. Things like retinal scanners, fingerprint id's and sticky cameras will keep you spitting adrenaline on this 14 mission romp.

Splinter Cell’s low-key approach to plot development is a refreshing change for those of us that would rather play our games than watch them, like "Metal Gear Solid 2" for that matter.

Insanely hard. Even with your tightest game face and greatest skills, you’ll still wind up replaying a mission at least three or four times before you get the hang of navigating through each level’s shadows, finding specific hints, clearing newly acquired objectives and discovering codes that you’ll need to progress through.

The story line is based on real-world politics, making the missions seem even more daring. This is one of the few games to elicit a feeling of suspense without resorting to shock techniques found in survival horror titles like "Resident Evil."

It's somewhat ironic that Cell's Clancy-approved storyline is the game's weakest point; instead of propelling the player towards a heady climax, Cell's plot putts along leisurely, lacking a narrative hook or an engaging protagonist to keep us amused. [Winter 2002, p.82]

Jeff M. gave it a 10:
This game rocks it changed the way I look at stealth gaming and I still have yet to play Pandora Tomorow but I know it will be good.

Mark gave it a 7:
I dont know what is so amazing in this game. I think Splinter Cell is good game, but not so good what everybody say.

Carlo L. gave it a 10:
If you give this game a rating lower than a 10, then you suck balls.

Hitman D. gave it a 9:
Awesome game, all the people rating it below 9 are doing so cos they sucked at it and find it too hard.

Jay Z. gave it a 7:
A spectacular piece of eye candy, no doubt, but the AI was either too smart for humans or too incompetent for 3-year olds. Good storyline but way too much trial and error. Its just too bad there isn't an online co-op mode too play around with like Socom. Great game that just lacks depth.

Justin M. gave it a 9:
One of my favorite games eva. The ai could use a little improvement but the game was awesome.

Derek O. gave it a 10:
Awesome.
