One of the most amazing aspects of this game is how the world responds to your actions. It is very open ended, and the decisions that you make during the course of your adventures directly affect the outcome of the entire game... One of the greatest RPGs that I have played thus far.

Knights suceeds in evoking the films without simply plagiarising Lucas' stories and characters. With it, BioWare has cemented itself as the number-one RPG developer outside of Japan...oh, and has made just about the best Star Wars game ever in the process. [Oct 2003, p.104]

The only real criticism that can be levelled at Knights of the Old Republic is that, particularly towards the end of the game, it all feels fairly easy, but then this is a game that's designed to be experienced rather than conquered, and lightsaber wielding Jedi aren't supposed to find things difficult. Dan A. gave it a10:
The only, and I mean ONLY flaw is that the visuals aren't above average. Other than that KOTOR delivers on levels that both avid and non-Star Wars fans will be impressed with.

E M gave it a10:
It's hard for me to give this a ten now, because playing with it's clunkier version of the d20 system and dealing with it's graphic quirks makes the game a hair less fun than it was in it's heyday, this game was so remarkable and retains so much value that it deserves a perfect rating.

Jack B. gave it a9:
One of the greatest xbox games ever made, although some of the parts are challenging, it is a great game.

[Anonymous] gave it a10:
Without a doubt one of the greatest RPG's of all time. Unlike games like Star Ocean Till The End of Time, KotOR shows that space is a setting that can make for great RPG's. I won't give away spoilers but the story is one of the most cinematic and intelligent tales to ever unfold in a video game. As for gameplay, this is a game that truly has a sense of variety from combat to party combinations to social skills. Almost every character has true sense of depth, defying almost every story cliche known to man. And graphically it delivers a feeling of scope that truly makes the Star Wars universe feel like the galaxy George Lucas has tried to portray for 30 years. This game is so great that the minor visual glitches that can occur once in a blue moon cannot subtract from the overall entertainment if you have an Xbox and enjoy RPG's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a must.

David F. gave it a10:
One of the greatest RPG's of all time.

Rob R. gave it a10:
Perfect game. The fighting was unique and fun, added a great "rpg" feel, level design was superb, almost completely non-linear, epic ending, amazingly done characters. And to put the icing on the cake... it's all in the Star Wars universe, several centuries before the movies. Hands down, the absolute greatest RPG I've ever played. You'll be playing this game 100 times over, and still love it, and miss it once you've beaten it.

Ryan F. gave it a9:
This game is simply the best RPG I've ever played. The story is perfect, the graphics are alright, they don't look very good in some cutscenes, the gameplay is great and the music is great.
