SOS for SMS

As technology continues to advance, and at a quicker and quicker clip, arenas previously delegated to teens and touching base are becoming more and more important to grown-ups and business. When you receive critical or valuable text messages, it can be difficult to keep track of and tabs on those messages in the same comprehensive ways that you can save emails and other correspondence. Now you can use the website TreasureMyText to preserve and protect your most important text messages.

The setup is simple: After signing up for an account, you forward those messages that you wish to save to the TreasureMyText number that fits your region. (For the United States, that number is 203.434.0893.) Treasuremytext archives the SMS messages and offers different options for the organization of your saved texts.

As more central communications take place over SMS, SMS apps will inevitably need to improve text management and desktop backup. For now, however, TreasureMyText gets the job done well.

As a bonus for those of you (lucky ducks) with an iPhone, but whose SMS app does not offer forwarding, there's a Treasuremytext iPhone application that runs on jailbroken iPhones.
