Barbara Jorgensen

Barb has more than 20 years’ experience in the high-tech industry, covering topics ranging from activity-based costing (ABC) to venture capital (VC). During her six-year stint at supply chain weekly Electronic Buyers News, Barb covered the electronics distribution industry full time (and gained the dubious distinction of “The Doyenne of Distribution.”)

Most recently, Barb has covered supply chain and manufacturing topics for Electronic Business magazine. EB was the pre-eminent management magazine of the electronics industry, featuring world-class manufacturing companies such as Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Cisco and Flextronics International. These companies are noted for such manufacturing breakthroughs as build-to-order, outsourcing, LEAN and a number of environmental initiatives. Barb has spent a lot of time in warehouses, factories and electro-static-discharge (ESD)-prevention suits.

The fact that Barb worked at two publications that are no longer in print is entirely coincidental.

A graduate of the University of Binghamton (formerly the State University of New York (SUNY) Binghamton), Barb began her journalism career with the Gannett newspaper chain.  She has worked for a number of local newspapers in the Greater Boston area and trade journal publishers Reed Business Information and CMP.  Barb now commutes about 10 feet everyday to her palatial home office in Mansfield, Mass.
