Sega Superstars Tennis review
March 16th, 2008A portion of a BGB review…
As a straight up Tennis game, it pales in comparison to both Virtua and Mario Tennis, and as a Sega history collection it’s excessively nostalgic, but will leave message board denizens calling out the lack of ToeJam and Earl or the inability to play as the AM2 Palm Tree (hey, Fighters Megamix did it). But Superstar Tennis offers an accessible, kid-friendly tennis game with plenty of mini-games and tournaments to sink your teeth into, offering a repeatedly addictive progression of unlockables and bonuses.

March 16th, 2008Ossu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2 review
March 16th, 2008A portion of an Aeropause review…
If you haven’t played Ouendan, you might skip right to this game as it’s a more refined experience and it’s tough to go back to the lower presentation level of the original after playing the newer games. The addition of the multiplayer is nice too, making this one a better value than the original.

Other Ocean working on Wii, DS game
March 16th, 2008A portion of a Gamasutra job posting…
Other Ocean Interactive began life as Backbone Charlottetown, under Foundation 9 Entertainment, and was established on Prince Edward Island, Canada in March 2006.
In May 2007, Backbone Charlottetown separated from Foundation 9 Entertainment, under the leadership of video game veteran Andrew Ayre, and became the wholly owned Canadian studio known as Other Ocean Interactive. The studio’s independence allows for a very close knit relationship with its publishers. It also provides Other Ocean with the opportunity to develop Original IP. The studio has more than doubled in size under Andrew’s leadership.
In its short history the studio has delivered the Konami title Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, on XBLA, Disney Interactive’s TRON and Discs of TRON for the same platform, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat for the Nintendo DS. Additionally, the studio is developing a title for the Nintendo Wii, an undisclosed title for the Nintendo DS, as well as for other handheld platforms.
Other Ocean currently employs 30+ people from the Atlantic Provinces of Canada, North America’s West Coast, the United Kingdom and Hungary.

Snaking removed from Mario Kart Wii
March 16th, 2008We’ve heard that the boosting was quite different in the latest edition of Mario Kart, but it still wasn’t confirmed that snaking was gone altogether. Well, according to Official Nintendo Magazine (UK)’s review, snaking is a thing of the past. Here’s a portion of their review…
The second big difference (in Mario Kart Wii compared to the rest of the series) is the removal of snaking. Ever since the N64 game, practically every Mario Kart game has included the ability to get a speed boost by waggling the controls left and right as you powerslide. This has finally been scrapped, and now your speed boost is determined by how long you can hold the slide.
Why do I have the feeling that players will find a way around this!?
