Only the Best
Vegetarian Sites
There's a gazillion vegetarian sites on the net. We've weeded out the crap for you. ("Weeding out the crap since 1998.")

VegSource. This site is so incredibly comprehensive *AND* so well-organized that I'm simply speechless. This is the veg. site to take with you to a desert island.

Vegetarian Resource Group (VRG). VRG is impressive -- they offer a free email newsletter, write & publish their own exceptionally practical books, have a guide to raising a vegetarian family, produce lesson plans for teachers, and more. Wow!

The Vegetarian Site. They bill themselves as a "vegetarian portal", and that's pretty accurate. From an online store to articles about animals, nutrition, and the environment, they're clearly trying to cover everything.

North American Vegetarian Society (NAVS). Large organization which organizes an annual vegetarian conference, and publishes Vegetarian Voice, which I consider to be much more informative and well-produced than Vegetarian Times. They also originated a compaign to help encourage 12 of the largest fast-food retailers to serve vegetarian entrees. NAVS offers a free 16-page booklet with recipes (Vegetarianism: Answers to the Most Commonly Asked Questions), a booklet on vegetarian nutrition (Good Nutrition: A Look at Vegetarian Basics), and a booklet on the environment (Vegetarianism:Tipping the Scales for the Enviroment). To receive paper copies, send a long (legal, #10) self-addressed stamped envelope to: NAVS, Box 72Q, Dolgeville NY 13329. (518) 568-7970.

VeggieDate and VeggieConnection. Meet other romance-minded vegetarians on the web!

Vegan.com. These guys are hilarious. The slogan on their site is "Disparaging meat since 1997"! A lead article starts, "Ball Park Franks may plump when you cook 'em, but a recent batch may also kill you when you eat 'em..." A recipe collection, activist updates, their own interview with Howard Lyman, what more do you want?

Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). Organization which advocates vegan diets for optimum health. Supported by 5,000 doctors. Offers a free video to medical students.

International Vegetarian Union (IVU). You can't get more global than IVU. And of course, their website is available in several languages.

VegDining.com. A worldwide guide to vegetarian restaurants. A similar site is veg.org, but sadly it hasn't been updated since Feb. 1996. Veg.org is also home to Vegetarian Pages, a massive list of veg. info and resources.

Vegetarian Societies. Find a local veg. group in your area. (North America)

BeyondVeg. Well-researched articles about veganism and raw foods diets. An honest approach, without the "religion" that usually surrounds the subject.
