Lightning doesn't usually strike twice, so you can probably rest assured that kids won't be yelling, "yahh, trick, yahh!!!!" the same way they did that Crank Dat Soulja Boy dance. Don't breathe too easy tho: The Noid-like Soulja Boy doppelganger seems clever enough to wind up on store shelves in a talking version, thus providing a replacement for my long lost Master P talkie doll. The actual Soulja Boy is in the video as well, alongside his buddy Arab (who seems to not be an Arab, by the way) in a Hype(r) fish-eyed and choppy adventure through the burbs. --> watch "Yahhh!"

NEW RELEASE: Blake Lewis "Break Anotha"

It's the best of times and the worst of times for American Idol. The new series debut this week was the most-watched TV show of the season thus far — garnering more viewers than those who tuned into competing fare on ABC, CBS, NBC and the CW combined —  but was still down 11% percent from last year's bow. Season 5 fave Chris Daughtry has found massive success with his rock outfit Daughtry — four million albums sold and a few Grammy nominations, for good measure — but previous finalists Katherine McPhee, Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard all found themselves dropped after falling short of expectations. It is into this tenuous situation that 2007 runner-up Blake Lewis unleahses his debut video "Break Anotha." Odds are stacked against him: He's known for his human DJ "skills" and the choice of "Anotha" over "Another" in the song title is a potential red flag. On the other hand, the video is directed by creative, yet underappreciated Sanji — check his Lauryn Hill "Everything Is Everything" and Maxwell "This Woman's Work" videos for a reminder — and there's a likable lo-fi, '70s vibe to the whole effort. Beat Box Blake performs in front of the tried and true simple effect of floating ink explosions — see Bright Eyes "Hot Knives" for a recent example — while surveillance style shots capture a couple on the verge of a break-up due to his unceasing desire for strange. --> watch "Break Anotha"

NEW RELEASE: Kelly Rowland "Daylight"

Here's a smart move by Kelly Rowland: Rather than compete in an escalating glamor competition with her fellow Destiny's Child member Beyonce, Rowland goes for a casual downtown NYC vibe in this video for "Happy."  She hangs at a decidedly simple and ordinary rooftop party with some friends, played by the oh so personable  Travis McCoy and his fellow Gym Class Heroes. It's win/win for all involved: Rowland seems a whole lot happier in this kind of laidback video, while McCoy gets some mainstream experience that may come in handy if he decides to see if anyone has been tapped yet to be the new generation's Will Smith. --> watch "Daylight" via MySpace

I'm not one to shed a tear for any youngster cruising down Sunset in a Mercedes convertible, but the girl in this video has got it bad. She's in throes of a breakdown as she waits/hopes for a phone call from Simple Plan singer Pierre Bouvier. Hallucinations set in and she starts seeing Pierre everywhere she looks: The advertisements all have Pierre. The parking valet is Pierre. Even the blogger with purple hair is Pierre (Hilton). Pierre is everywhere, except for her cellphone's caller ID display. That sense of ubiquity is not so imaginary, however: The restyled and even poppier than before Canadian rockers seem to be covering all their bases as they set up the February release of their new self-titled album. Yesterday included promo stops on MTV's TRL and Fuse's The Sauce, while the aforementioned kowtow to Perez Hilton has also reaped the expected reward. --> watch "When I'm Gone"

The blind man who can see is one of the oldest literary archetypes in the book, so it was only a matter of time before he wandered into a music video. Director Jeff Richter imagines his Tiresias as a tattoo-covered  former gangbanger named Enrique, who's now interested in raising his daughter and, of course, using his disability to help others. Kind of like Daredevil, but without the fancy costume, acrobatic adventures. NEW RELEASE: The Pack "In My Car"

The Pack's"In My Car" recalls the early days of rap video, with i's green screen special effects, simplistic rhymes and  infectious hook. But this isn’t a retro outing, as the clip employs slick animation to create a surreal scenes with cascading dollars and a floating spaceman. While the song lacks the compelling narrative of an old school rap hit, it compensates for that with repetition, polished production and repetition. If the hook isn’t stuck in your head by the end of this one, you might want change the batteries in your hearing aid or see if you've suffered a brain injury. One word comes to mind when watching the viralicious video for Soulja Boy’s block-rocking #1 hit “Crank That,” and the word is zeitgeist. Yeah, that's right. Zeitgeist. Forgive the bad pun, but this is a video with balls. Literally. Barely legal rockers Test Your Reflex perform at at the Caltrans building in downtown Los Angeles  — same location seen for the recent Maroon 5 "Makes Me Wonder" video — while orbs of energy pulsate and fky around the band them like little pieces of the sun. As far as the band's actual sound, "Pieces Of The Sun" strikes me as a slick, more tuneful and much more pop reimaging of Joy Division. NEWS: iTunes To Exclusively Debut New Jim Jones Video

KOCH recording artist Jim Jones will have the honor of being the first rapper to receive a music video world premiere on the iTunes Store. The new video "Emotionless" will be exclusively available this Tuesday, March 13 at a limited-time price of $0.99 and bundled with a short form "making of" special.

This is the second clip off Jones' hit album Hustler's P.O.M.E. (Product Of My Environment). Like "We Fly High," the video for "Emotionless" was directed by the team of Dale "Rage" Resteghini and Jim Jones, and produced by Resteghini's Raging Nation Films.
