  • Men Like Sexy Women, and More Spike TV/TVGuide.com Poll Results | Today's News: Our Take | 3/10/2008 New
    A new national study by Spike TV and TVGuide.com reveals, among other things, why fellas put up with those Dancing stars, the Housewife they're desperate to hook up with, and the CSI most likely to catch their eye. Specifically, the poll of 800 men ages 18 to 49 (conducted by Latitude Research) found that:• 44 percent of men watch Dancing with the Stars for (are you sitting down?) the hot female dancers. • Gaby is the hottest Desperate Housewife — and by a large margin, netting 56 percent of the vote to second-placer Susan's 12 percent.• The crime scene investiagtor they'd most welcome an office romance with is Miami's Calleigh (37 percent), though CSI's Catherine is a very close second with 34 percent. NY's Stella drew a respectable 27 percent of the vote.• 53 percent of the respondents would brave Lost's wacky island just to be stranded with Kate.     First of all, thanks to Mickey for covering last week’s very trippy episode while I did a little traveling of my own. I have to admit that after watching the episode several days later, I was somewhat relieved about not having to sort through Desmond’s “stickiness” issues. However, I do wish I could have shared with all of you how truly touched I was by the phone reunion between Desmond and Penny. I read through most of your comments and I am very firmly in the camp of those who feel that Desmond and Penny’s love story is really the heart of the show. (And Jack and Kate are the soul... and Sawyer and Kate are the libido.)     Cheers to the Rescue Me crew for keeping their careers simmering. Andrea Roth was suitably creepy as Juliet's island therapist on Lost, and John Scurti (sans his firefighter 'stache) was surprisingly convincing as a no-nonsense judge on Law & Order. Meanwhile, James McCaffrey sizzles as Julianna Margulies' P.I. paramour on exec producer Denis Leary's new Fox drama Canterbury's Law.   • Lost: The Secret Behind Desmond's Close Shave | Today's News: Our Take | 3/7/2008
    A week ago Lost sent fans' heads spinning not only with Desmond's time-tripping adventure, but also by juxtaposing in the same episode a long-haired, bearded Henry Ian Cusick with a buzzed and shaven version for the "flash-sideways." How'd they do it? Not only Cusick's hairdresser knows for sure. "We have really talented hair and makeup folks," says exec producer Carlton Cuse, explaining that Cusick's lush locks were tucked inside a short-haired wig.As for the actor's facial follicles, Cusick shot as much of the episode as possible in his full beard, and then shaved almost smooth for the time-stuck scenes. "Then, when we needed to show him back with a beard, we glued onto his stubble beard hair" — Cusick's own clipped castaways, in fact. Says Cuse, "This fake bearding is done until the actor can regrow his own beard." The net result: Well done, brother! — MWM read more

    Q: This last episode of Lost ("The Constant") was astounding. No, legendary! I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. The whole episode on Desmond Hume was phenomenal, and the love between Desmond and Penny is downright beautiful. The scene between the two of them at the end was, I must say, the most touching, romantic scene I have ever seen on TV or at the movies. I so hope Henry Ian Cusick will be up for an Emmy. I also believe it's time for the show to be up for (and win) an Emmy. What read more
