While at an officially sanctioned event last Wednesday in Las Vegas, Wiebe scored 929,800 points in Donkey Kong, just short of his personal best of 1,049,100.

Reigning champion Billy Mitchell was one of 1,900 in attendance, handing out free bottles of his signature hot sauce with the phrase, "Steve Wiebe Attempts Donkey Kong World Record."

Wiebe has recorded top scores in Donkey Kong on a number of occasions in recent years, only to have them quickly overtaken by a competitive, mullet-wearing Billy Mitchell.

In 2007, a hilarious documentary entitled The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters was released showing Wiebe's attempts to overtake Mitchell's long-standing high score. Though Weibe genuinely appears to be a likable guy, the film conveniently omitted information in an effort to further vilify Mitchel more than his eccentric ways already do.
