Rock Band is awesome!
Better than Guitar Hero? From the standpoint of multiplayer, yes. Beating drums and singing (if you can sing) is so much fun with everyone in the room to enjoy (or abhor) it. For me, it quickly became a family favorite.
Even Grandma got into it. It really hearkens back to her time when the family would sit around and sing songs, but now it's in a cool, digital kind of way...

This game is well worth every penny. Whether you buy the bundle (which comes with a guitar/bass, mic and a drum set with drum sticks and everything you need to start playing out of the box) or just the game (if you have a guitar for it already) you will have a blast.
