Level Range: 13 to 22
Location: Orgrimmar

Ragefire Chasm is the lowest level instance in World of Warcraft. It often serves as a player’s introduction to groups and instances. It is a short instance that can be run in around an hour or less by an average party. There are no Alliance quests in this instance, and because the entrance is inside a Horde city, it is effectively open only to Horde characters.

Entrance

The entrance is located inside the city of Orgimmar, in the Cleft of Shadow.

The instance starts off with single and small groups of troggs. Now is a good time to practice working with your group, as many of them may not have worked in groups before. If your priest is in the center of the fight with a club, or your warrior is staying back and shooting a bow, take a few moments to nicely explain Group Basics to them.

The lava in the instance does damage if you touch it.

Eventually you’ll encounter Oggleflint. After you have, speak with Mar Grimtotem nearby.

Taragaman the Hungerer is the first and hardest boss of the instance. Make sure you have full health and mana before you attack him. In addition to his normal weapon, he also has the ability to do damage to everyone nearby in a single attack (called Area of Effect or AoE). So if you’re a spellcaster or a healer, stay as far away as you can while still being close enough to use your spells. He also has an ability to push you back. This can be deadly if you’re standing in front of the lava, so when you fight him make sure you’re away from the lava.

After you’ve killed Taragamman, loot his body. If you have the Slaying the Beast quest, you’ll get the heart you need to complete the quest.

Keep going and you’ll meet Bazzalan. He has guards that fight along side of him. If your party has a rogue, see if he or she can sap one of the guards. If your party has a mage, see if he or she can use polymorph on one of them.

Back up to the lava and take the trail to the west. Eventually you’ll meet Jergosh the Invoker. He also has guards. Take the lessons you’ve learned fighting Bazzalan and try to apply them to this fight.

When you’ve killed Jergosh, loot his body. After that you can either leave the instance the same way you came in, or you can use your hearthstone to go back to whatever inn it’s set for.
