Transportation

The west side of Loch Modan has four tunnels. There are two passages, one in the north and one in the south that go to Dun Morogh. The Algaz Gate in the north leads to The Wetlands. The passage in the Valley of Kings leads south to the Searing Gorge.

Directly south of the loch is a path that leads to the Badlands. Players below level 35 should take care not to accidentally wander into this higher level area.

Players with a way to survive the fall can also jump off Stonewrought Dam, they'll land in the Wetlands.

Thelsamar has the area's only flightmaster.

Towns and Settlements

Thelsamar

Thelsamar is a Dwarven settlement that serves as the adventuring hub for Loch Modan. It has an inn, flightmaster, vendors, and questgivers.

Farstrider Lodge

Farstrider Lodge

Farstrider Lodge is an elven building on the far east side of the area. It is located to the east of Ironbeards' Excavation. Despite it's name, Farstrider Lodge is not an inn; you cannot set your hearthstone to it nor do you gain rest for staying there.

Farstrider does have questgivers for several quests. The "Hunter's Boast" chain has good rewards for Hunters.

Stonewrought Dam

This dam serves as the northern border of the lake. You'll find several questgivers here, along with some vendors. Jumping off the dam will kill any character that doesn't have Levitate or Slow Fall. Those that survive will end up in The Wetlands.

Areas in Loch Modan

Grizzlepaw Ridge

Grizzlepaw Ridge consists of the mountains south of Thelsamar. On the southwest side is a path that leads up to a cave. Here you'll find a level 20 bear named Ol Sotty who is involved with the quest Vyrin's Revenge.

The valley on the south side of the ridge is filled with bears and spiders. It serves as a back door into Stonesplinter Valley.

Ironband's Excavation Site

The Loch

The Loch is a lake that covers much of the Loch Modan area. Players can swim across the lake, but watch out for level 20 lake monsters that live there.

There are three islands in the lake. The two southern islands are empty except for Loch Crocolsiks (levels 14 to 15). The northern island is filled with Troggs.
