World of Warcraft has many seasonal events that take place in-game. These events are all tied to and based on real world holidays.

New Year

  • New Year's Eve
  • Fireworks and kegs are found in Stormwind, Thunder Bluff, Booty Bay. On PvP servers, Booty Bay becomes the scene of factional violence as the goblin bursers who normally keep the peace in go off-duty to drink.

Lunar Festival

  • Chinese New Year
  • In each major city, red lanterns are hung and the Druids of Nighthaven sell fireworks. By accepting a quest to light off some of these fireworks, characters can earn an invitation to Moonglade. The Druids will then teleport them to Moonglade where they can celebrate.

Love is in the Air

  • Valentine's Day
  • Purfume and cologne are sold by innkeepers. When used, you'll be able to see hearts over town or city guards. If you give them a love token (also available from innkeepers) you'll receive a Pledge of Adoration. This package holds one of many possible gifts, from a cupid-like pet to food which provides buffs. You can receive one Pledge of Adoration per hour. Any other tokens you give out during this hour will be rewarded with Pledges of Friendship. These are usually gifts of food that don't provide buffs.

Noblegarden

  • Easter
  • On the day of Easter, players can find Easter eggs scattered throughout starting zones (any level 1-10 region). Inside these eggs are candy, small amounts of money, and sometimes decretive clothing.

Children's Week

  • Mother's Day
  • A variety of quests are available from children in the capital cities. Most of these quests are easy and provide a large amount of reputation with the associated city.

Midsummer Fire Festival

  • Independence Day or various midsummer festivals
  • Ribbon Poles give a +30 fire resistance buff. There are also several quests to visit bonfires in different cities.

Harvest Festival

  • Canadian Thanksgiving
  • Alliance players can travel to the tomb of Uther Lightbringer (near Chillwind Camp) in the Western Plaguelands. Horde players can go to a monument to Grom Hellscream in Demon Fall Canyon in Ashenvale. By paying tribute at these locations players will recieve food and other small items.

Brewfest

  • Oktoberfest
  • Beer drinking, ram racing and a variety of quests.

Hallow's End

  • Halloween
  • Innkeepers give out candy (or tricks!) when asked. There are also apples available to anyone who is willing to bob for them. The Headless Horseman attacks low level villages, and there are special quests available for the Scarlet Monastery.

Feast of Winter Veil

  • Christmas
  • In addition to decorations in the cities and villages, snowballs are available for purchase as are special seasonal recipes. Winter Revelers can be kissed, with mistletoe or snowflakes as a reward.
