An extremely entertaining game with the right amount of unrealistic, but believable gameplay, with many hours of replay value to its name.

Console Gameworld
Proves to be one of the most impressive looking N-Gage titles to date. However, it shows some limitations along the way.

If you want a fast, adrenaline-fuelled downhill racer with snow galore, in the palms of your glove-wrapped hands then look no further than SSX: Out of Bounds. Snow days have never been better spent!

For $30, you get a remarkable facsimile of the console game, absolutely bursting with content. But just like it's hard for a writer to lose a favorite passage, the developer should have shown a little less mercy.

What is amazing is how well this game translates to the N-Gage platform. It isn't stellar, but it is very playable, and even addictive.

Out of Bounds isn’t brilliant, but it has more than enough charm to suit even the most disconcerting N-Gage owner.

It represents a teeny, tiny amount of the technology available to game developers, even those working solely on the N-Gage.

The graphics aren't stellar but the gameplay truly shines. While not as speedy as the console version, Out of Bounds is still a blast to play because the controls are spot on.

If you're willing to suffer the frame rate problems and the poor draw distance, there's enough of the SSX spirit in Out of Bounds to provide some fun.

But with it’s slowly mounting nuisance factor (the crowded screen, the eye-raking textures and clumsy track edges) it’s also a reminder of how far we have yet to go in our search for excuse-free, niggle-free enjoyment in a mobile videogame.

It may not be enough to encourage everyone to run out and buy an N-gage, but for N-gage owners SSX Out of Bounds is a solid extreme sports pick.

It's too easy to get lost amidst the snowy visuals and poor frame rate, but the experience remains fun nonetheless. [Apr 2005, p.71]

Yes, you can take lemons and make lemonade, but you need more than the fruit to do it. This game lacks the sweetness of sugar and the flow of water, resulting in nothing but a sour experience. I expect more from the N-Gage.

I like it.

AB gave it a5:
Easily the best portable SSX game ever. But, as anyone who has played the GBA games knows, that means nothing.
