TEKKEN: Dark Resurrection arrives on the PSP. New characters Lili and Dragunov join the classic cast such as Jin, Heihachi, Paul and Law in the battle to be crowned King of the Iron Fist Tournament. An all-new intro movie lets you dive into the midst of the world of TEKKEN, this time with ad-hoc multiplayer mode to fight against friends as well as more items to customize your favorite characters. The beauty of TEKKEN is re-created on the handheld console, delivering one of the most realistic graphics on a handheld platform. A variety of destructible objects pump up the action on 19 stages. Play as one of over 30 characters, including classics Jin, Heihachi, Paul, Law and more. New characters Lili and Dragunov join the classic cast with all-new fight styles and moves. Collecting victories to lead your character to become king rewards you with ending movies for each character. Use your fight money to customize your characters – with more than double the items seen in TEKKEN 5. Using Wi-Fi connectivity of the PSP platform, you can battle against your friends – take your customized, original character against theirs and let the battle unfold. Mini-games provide a little breather from heart-pumping fighting action for more fun against friends. [Namco]

This will feel fresh and immediate even to those whose Tekken-love was waning. It's engaging, exceptional and essential. [Sept 2006, p.82]

PSP owners, this is a certain hit, an instant classic that's likely the highest-quality game yet released for Sony's handheld system. It's a must-buy for fighting game fans.

If there was a way to make the Tekken series better I certainly don't know what it is. It’s like somebody took all the previous Tekken games and put them in a blender then filtered out the bad stuff and out pops Tekken: Dark Resurrection.

A game that is so polished in pretty much all areas is pretty hard to come by, especially on a portable machine. Namco has definitely gone above and beyond the call of duty to bring the best Tekken experience to their fans on a portable medium. [JPN Import]

Though it's probably impossible to get a proper online fighting experience Dark Resurrection comes about as close as we can hope for -- and it's completely portable. Few games are this uncompromising, and every PSP owner needs this game. Yep, all of em.

As well as being by far the best beat-'em up on the PSP, Tekken: Dark Resurrection is one of the machine's standout games: it looks great, controls well and is everything anyone could ever want from a handheld Tekken. Truly unmissable. [Issue 143, p.84]

Dark Resurrection is so great, that many will argue that it's the best Tekken game ever – and I’d agree. It plays tighter than "Tekken 5" (because it's based on the updated Dark Resurrection arcade update), and it has tons of features not found in the home release.

New modes, new characters (the slow-but-powerful Dragunov and the speedier mash-friendly Lili), incredible graphics, and plenty of other add-ons not only make Tekken a fantastic fighting experience, but one hell of a great PSP game as well.

Hardcore beat em’ up fans and casual players alike have something here available to keep their heads faced towards their handheld consoles for a long time to come. The series is so hemmed in by its own history - and the demands of fans - that it is largely unable to innovate. As such, the PSP version, while a solid iteration of an eminently playable formula, is able to grow only in width rather than concept. [Sept 2006, p.85]

The conversion is spot on, the graphics, sound and control are superb, and short bursts of the single-player are a joy. It's such a shame, then, that the multi-player is a let down. [Sept 2006, p.108]

Omar K. gave it a10:
Tekken DR is probably the greatest Tekken game ever and also the best fighting game, it boasts the greatest amount of characters in the canonical tekken series. Even when you feel you have played too much, you want to play that 1"last" round.

Desmond H. gave it a9:
The D-pad has some problems, but it's still one of the best games for the PSP.

Nick B. gave it a9:
I just wanted to add my mini-review to all the other accolades. This game is easily the smoothest and nicest looking PSP game I have owned, and highly addictive....there's something about a good fighting game on this portable that I find much more attractive than in the bigger consoles, and Tekken is utterly perfect. It's only failing is that it lacks an interesting story mode ala the questing system in Mortal Kombat, but otherwise it's huge number of unlockables, character mods, and consistenyl good gameplay and graphics have made this a permanent edition to my PSP entourage.

Andrew N. gave it a9:
Quite simply its the ultimate Tekken experience. The graphics are outstanding for the console while the gameplay is spot on and just as playable as the console version. While the series is a bit long in the tooth now, it still remains one of the best beat em ups around. This is arguably the best game in the series since Tekken 3.

Assimov gave it a10:
This is really a must have. Game Sharing let you play with any other PSP player altougth he didn't own the game not limited to any fighter so you can play hours. (That's the best GameSharing game in the PSP). Great combats. Superb graphics and animations. Fighters personalization are great for solo play. Can't give it less than 10 points.

Shamus M. gave it a10:
Great game, the best I've ever play this game is a smash HIT instantly and amazing graphics and game controls.

Zack C. gave it a9:
Despite being exactly like Tekken 5 for PS2 in every way, shape, and form, despite 2 new characters, it is, along with the GTA's, the greatest game for the PSP.
