First Cellphone Watch with a Camera is Still a Cellphone Watch

2gb-cell-phone-watch.jpg There ain't nothing cooler than really intense watches. Take this ridiculous cellphone watch, for example. At over a half an inch thick, it's certainly large, and it contains way more inside than you'd want in a watch. That includes an unlocked GSM cellphone with a 1.3-touchscreen, a stylus for operating said touchscreen, an MP3 player, 2GB microSD support and Bluetooth. But wait! It also has a 1.3MP digital camera built in, a first for the illustrious category of cellphone watches! You'd better buy one right now! Or, you could just carry around a good cellphone and not weigh one side of your body down with something this ridiculous. It's your call. [Product Page via Geekalerts]

Hulu Opening to Public Tomorrow, Adds Warner Bros and Sports

Hulu, NBC and Fox's new streaming service, is indeed opening to the public tomorrow as we reported rumors of yesterday. What's news to us is that Hulu will be adding Warner Brothers shows and sports as well. The sports will come as game recaps from the NBA and NHL (finger on the pulse!) as well as full NCAA games. Now, I don't want to be a Debbie downer here, and you can't argue with free, but with the copious advertising, spotty selection of episodes and lack of downloads you've gotta wonder just how much this is going to catch on. Orbit Wheel Skates are Like Roller Blades, Just Less Fun

These Orbitwheel skates aren't quite rollerblades, they aren't quite skateboards and they aren't quite a trip to the emergency room, but they're pretty close to all three. They're essentially wheels that you slip your feet through the middle of, letting you scoot around sideways until you go over a curb or a rut and end up on the ground. They're available now for a kind-of-ludicrous price of $145 if you're so inclined. [New Davincis]

SNES Emulator Running on a Cowon Q5W

cowon-q5-emu.jpg This is a Cowon Q5W PMP that's been rigged to hook up to an original Playstation controller and run a SNES emulator. On the one hand, it's sweet to see SNES games being played on a PMP. On the other hand, this is a honking $550+ PMP, so you'd probably be pretty pissed if it didn't have the juice to do this. In any case, neat! I'll take SNES emulation anywhere and everywhere. [Anything But iPod via Ubergizmo]

The iPhone Virtual Reality Goggles, They Do Nothing

box-fab-iphone-virutal-reality-head-mount.jpg Oh man. Apparently somebody just saw The Lawnmower Man and got inspired. This virtual reality head mount for the iPhone is designed to let you strap your favorite expensive phone to your face, blocking out everything else so there's nothing to distract you from the glow of your precious. The 3D Mario Wii Casemod

The Wii is great and all, but I think it just slides too easily into my home theater cabinet. I want something more awkwardly shaped and garishly colored, dammit! When will Nintendo listen to my requests? I need to go to modders to get what I want; specifically, this hand-painted Wii mod with a 3D Mario popping out of the side. A little much? Maybe, but you can't hate on this type of constructive fanboyism. I approve. [Hack n Mod]

Turn an Old Mac Into a Toilet Paper Dispenser

Who would lose more dignity if you modded an old Mac into a toilet paper dispenser: you or the Mac? It's a tough one, but you're welcome to find out with the detailed instructions for turning the old computer into a TP receptacle/pee spray magnet on TechRepublic. Personally, I'm sticking with a bar on the wall; just seems easier. [TechRepublic]

AT&T; Jacks Up Text Message, Multimedia Message Rates

Yesterday, AT&T; announced an unlimited voice plan for the iPhone that still comes with a paltry 200 text messages. Now, we have word that AT&T; will be jacking up the price of text messages over your plan's limit to a whopping $0.20, with multimedia messages going up to $0.30 (not that the iPhone can send those). If you send lots of text messages you'd better sign up for a larger text plan or risk adding some pretty crazy fees to your bill. [Broadband Reports]

Sun to Bring Java to the iPhone via the SDK

java_iphone-thumb.gif Apple gave Sun kind of the cold shoulder, not giving them the opportunity to put Java on the iPhone for Java apps. Now that the SDK is out, Sun's decided to just take matters into their own hands and prep a Java Virtual Machine for the device that'll allow Java applets to run on it. The JVM for iPhone will be based on Java Micro Edition, allowing apps like games and enterprise applications. You know, uh, all the stuff we've been clamoring for. I guess. Well, I'm sure at least a couple of interesting programs will come out of this, right? We'll see how Apple handles Sun sneaking Java onto the iPhone this way. [Infoworld via Slashdot]

Squid Face Pillow Lets You Lie Face Down Comfortably

squid.jpg Lying face down on the ground to tan or get a back massage invariably leads to awkward positioning and sore necks. Not so if you have the Squid Face Pillow! It keeps your face pointed straight down and your neck comfortable, allowing you to cook your skin to an appetizing golden brown without any side effects other than skin cancer. Sold! New Camera Can Tell Exactly What's In Your Pockets From 80 Feet Away

securitycamera.jpg A British company called ThruVision has developed a camera that can detect items such as guns, drugs and explosives under people's clothes without, for better or worse, being able to see their genitals. It holds a lot of promise for places like airport security checkpoints but stands to open up a huge can of privacy-hating worms elsewhere. More »

iPhone Gets Unlimited Voice Plan, Still Only 200 Text Messages

Following the trend of unlimited plans, AT&T; just unveiled its new unlimited voice plan for the iPhone. For $120 a month you get unlimited voice, unlimited data and… still 200 text messages. What's the deal with the stinginess on texts, AT&T;? Does it really cost that much to send 50-character messages? Ah well, in any case, big talkers with iPhones now have the option to go unlimited. Have at it. [Apple via Boy Genius]

Japan Develops a Fire Alarm that Sprays the Smell of Horseradish

In an innovative solution to the problem of deaf people not being able to hear fire alarms, Japanese researchers have developed one that sprays the strong smell of horseradish, ensuring that everybody with a functioning sense of smell wakes up. In tests, it successfully, silently woke up 13 out of 14 people, with deaf subjects much more receptive to the alarm. Combine this with an audible alarm and a small robot that goes around slapping people in the face and you've got yourself one foolproof fire alarm. Wait a minute. If they can smell horseradish, can't they also smell the fire? [WCTV via Boing Boing]

This Renewable Energy is Bullshit

On Tuesday, California energy company PG&E; started generating energy from a rather unusual source: cow manure. Yes, cow poop emits methane as it decomposes. And while usually that's a bad thing, with methane being a potent greenhouse gas and all, it can be captured and turned into a renewable source of energy. More »

Need a Break From iPhone SDK News? Here's a Squirrel Dressed Like a Spaceman

squirrelspace.jpg Yes, there was a ton of iPhone news today. Very exciting! But if you're a little sick of the Apple news train, here's a photo to give you a breather. It's a squirrel and it's dressed up like a space stewardess for some reason. You are welcome. [Sugarbush Squirrel]

Apple to Allow VoIP Over Wi-Fi

iphonegeneric.jpg If someone develops a VoIP program for the iPhone, Apple will only prevent it from making calls over a cell network to protect poor little AT&T.; If you're in a Wi-Fi hotspot, however, go nuts. This opens up a pretty big door for developers to make some sweet programs that'll save you quite a few cell minutes. Basically, it'll allow all iPhone users to have what T Mobile offers with its @Home program but without the monthly fee, at least as soon as someone writes the program. This is gonna be huge.
