Like what you see? Here's how to make your own Chain Chomp knit cap, as designed by knitter Allison MacAlister. Step 1, learn to knit. Step 2, go to the Knitting Ninja's web site and download the hat pattern. Step 3, ????. Step 4, you have a fantastic wearable homage to Super Mario Bros. 3—and or Super Mario 64, if you're so inclined—that will do its best to keep your noggin warm while giving the appearance of a black ball devouring your brain.
Chain Chomp Hat [Knitting Ninja - thanks, Motha!]
I failed at step 1. Too bad. :(
I used to knit....
Why does my brain fail me so...
Cute hat!
Thank you Monsieur!
If you find any cool crochet patterns, I'd love to see those too. I'm a much, much, much better crocheter than knitter.
Wow, best woolen hat I've seen in a while.
that is freakin sweet and stylish :)
Plan B, step 1: I'll buy it for $10.
@Candlejack:
same
If they made it into a cap instead of a sock I would be compelled to want one
4. Profit!
I'd buy one at least...
Very cool. It would be even cooler with a matching "I HAS A CHAIN CHOMP" t-shirt, though.
This is pure win.
According to the site, making and selling these things is ok if you get permission. Hopefully somebody will knit a bunch of them and sell em. I'd buy one.
Now to find someone who can knit and make em knit me this wonderful, wonderful hat.
That almost makes me want to learn how to knit...
As lame as that is, it's still completely awesome.
excuse me miss...somethings eatin ur head there.
That is an awesome knit cap. I love the chain. And the head biting.
Current count of stories today containing the words "Om," "Nom," and "Nom": 2
I saw nom nom, and the first thing that came to my head was "it has many humans"
The best thing is: my mom can knit up a storm.
One chain chomp cap coming up. :D
I've got to ask my aunt, who can knit, to make one of these for me.
I'd wear it to school every day, and I'd wear it home, and I'd wear it to work, and I'd wear it to bed... If you can't tell, we don't have insulation in my house.
And on another note, "om nom nom" is now the greatest onomatopoeia in existance.
Well shit, I know her from the internet.
@Candlejack: I hear you, so I tried to skip that step, hoping I could cheat my way... Instead I failed too :(
I usually say NOM NOM NOM, rather than starting the first sans N. The Debate of the Century.
@DeathAnxiety: You are sounding a lot like Dr. Seuss! :D
holy crap i just learned to knit =D it must be my lucky day!!! cept i cant get past step 3 =_=;;;
OM NOM NOM!
I'd prefer a chain-chomp plush toy with OM NOM NOM speech bubble.
It wouldn't be that difficult to buy a black hat and glue felt eyes and teeth on it. And gray felt chains, too. And then sell them on etsy or something :P
I normally never wear caps, but THIS I'd wear all day, every friggin' day!
Let's see... how do you knit again? Is it up, up, down, down, left, right, B, A, pearl one?
@Erwin211: Not a coincidence!
Score one for knowing how to knit.
I much prefer crochet, but that will not stop me! I'm excited! I have a new project to do. I must have me one of these. I think I'd look unbelievably silly, but all the more awesome!
More video game-related knitting/crochet projects plz! <3
there should be a Yoshi one, kind of like this:
[www.smashbros.com]
I don't know how to show images.
@J. Kyle:
Dude. I would pay a lot for that combo. And I'd wash them every night so they'd be ready the next morning.
I believe the post means to say "a fantastic wearable homage to Link's Awakening."
Incidentally, it's also the best Kirby game. This from the person whose handle on certain other sites is kirbyguy.
Cool.
I like the Poring caps too
It be cool to see the bottom of the chain chomp as a scarf
Wow. Almost 40 comments and not one pun about fellatio. Good on you.
@McWhertor: Keep it going!
@Erwin211: And no jokes about how to get good off you.
I see how your minds work: just like mine.
Ha! Thanks for the kind words everyone!
A friend pointed me to this blog post. I'm all flattered and giggly. Haha. :D
Everyone should learn to knit and make my hat! Knitting is pretty easy to learn! Especially since this hat doesn't use any crazy-difficult techniques. It's all the easy stuff. :)
@Cuban__B: That's it, I gotta send this idea to my aunt.
That cap is awesome!
@Cuban__B: and the scarf idea is aweswome...
However, I live in a tropical country. Hmm.. Maybe if it were a Chain Chomp bikini top... or not. ^_^;
Imagine me walking the streets of Brooklyn with that hat on..
@themunk: amen brother i was just about to say that
Now, wheres the matching scarf to complete the lower jaw? Because seriously, that's what this is missing.
... This would work with Pac-Man as well no?
Variety is The Spice of life!
If only I could knit then the world would be my oyster as I wore my knit cap with pride
