Historic streetcar fare information (effective September 1, 2005)
The historic streetcars of the F-line and forthcoming E-line require exact fares; operators cannot make change. To speed your ride, please have your fare or valid transfer ready before boarding, and deposit it into the farebox near the boarding door. Transfers are issued upon boarding only, and are good for approximately 90 minutes after the boarding time, and may be used for up to two connecting rides in any direction. If you are taking a round trip on the F-line and are stopping over only briefly or not at all, the transfer may be used for the return trip. Transfers may not be used on cable cars.

Cable car fare information (effective September 1, 2005)
Cable car tickets and one-day Cable Car Passes are sold onboard cable cars by the conductors. Conductors can make change for up to $20. No transfers are accepted or issued on cable cars. If you plan to make an intermediate stop, or ride round-trip, the one-day Cable Car Pass is a good choice in comparison to a single-ride fare. However, a Muni Passport may be a better deal than the one-day Cable Car Pass if you also plan to ride other Muni vehicles, such as the historic streetcars of the F-line, or the Muni Metro subway.

Monthly Muni FastPasses, BART Plus, and Muni Passports are valid on cable cars. Weekly passes require supplementary cash payment of $1. Muni tokens require supplementary cash payment of $3.50. Inter-agency passes do not count towards cable car fares.
