Kuwait became a member of the 21-country Arab League in 1961
soon after it attained independence. These are the member states:
Africa: Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Sudan,
Djibouti, Somalia and Comoros. Asia: Lebanon, Syria, Palestine,
Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab
Emirates, Oman and Yemen.
As a proactive member of the League, Kuwait has been a major
contributor and initiator in all League programmes and agendas.
The League promotes politics, economy, culture and social safety
