Clearance from Captain W.C. Larry, Headquarters, Commander Eastern Sea Frontier, Department of the Navy, Brooklyn, New York, dated May 22, 1974, to Dr. E. Lee Spence at Sea Research Society expressing that "If the COAC has no objection to your salvage operations, Commander Eastern Sea Frontier interposes no objections to the planned operations." (i.e. the salvage of the Hunley.)
Note: Captain W.C. Larry would not have given clearance on behalf of Commander Eastern Sea Frontier had Spence's map not been precise enough to show where Sea Research Society would be salvaging the Hunley.
