Hold on be strong for Eurovision
Norway: Maria Haukaas Storeng to Begrade
Four songs qualified to the Super Final of the 2008 Melodi Grand Prix where she won by a landslide with almost 80.000 votes more than the runner-up Torstein Sødal. Maria beat all the hot favourites of the night, including the much discussed King of Trolls.
The following four acts made it to the super final:
Hold on be strong - Maria Haukaas Storeng 195.661 votes
Eastern wind - Torstein Sødal 118.095 votes
Am I supposed to love again - Veronica Akselsen
Far away - King of Trolls
Norway will be competing in the first Eurovision Song Contest semi final on 20th May in Belgrade.

Tsk Tsk Tsk Dear neighbours, you could have done much better this year... Not exactly my favorit, but Maria is okey - but I dont see her as a winner 
I still belive that you would have been in better chances with Ann-Mari Andersen or Veronica Axelsen in Belgrade! But my love to my neighbours in North is still strong, so good luck Norway & lykke till kjære Norge 
...oh, and by the way, Molly, I think Monaco stole the Polish flag, not the other way around...

I do not know you, and I do not wish to get to know you either, I do realise that we live in Europe and this means that we are all allowed to cry out loud what we think and feel and mean.
BUT, whenever you have an opinion about a song, and you want to share it with others, I think it would be a good idea to not only proclaim your point of view, but also tell us WHY you don`t like a song. The discussions would be much more interesting that way...

It's an amazing song! I've been listening to it non-stop and that's all I can say! I hope Norway gets really far with this!

well, it feels so good to see the best song actually WIN at NF...great selection, she deserves and will get a good finish...in fact, if the rest of the songs will be as mediocre/bad as the ones selected so far, Maria might very well compete for top spot!
A fine choice for Norway. I was disappointed than Ann-Mari didn't make it to the top four, and kind of wish Torstien would have won instead, but this was one of my favourite songs in the competition, and with a little more stage performance, (but please no dancing with guitars!) I think this will fare extremely well in Eurovision.
I'm quite confident it will get at least 5 points from the UK. After all, our media gets an erection at the mere mention of America, and this song certainly has an American Idol feel to it. I am aware though that Maria is a Norwegian Idol winner, like Hanna Pakarinen is a Finnish Idol winner. I salute Norway for sending such a popular artist with a lovely voice and a classy yet very commerical song. Good luck!

Great choice, one of the 3 best at this point in time, together with Denmark and Switzerland.
This song is Mariah Carey ish, IMO Norway must end in the top5 with this song. If it does not...ok ESC is officially an affair only for eastern Europe. Very good entry Norway!

It's hard to be original this days, but HOLD DON BE STRONG in chorus looks very much like serbian song PONEKAD, performed by DJOGANI group.

After a few hearings now I like it even more. This songs just enters you mind Norway deserves a good postition this year - they always choose nice songs.
