Final line-up complete

Iceland: the results of the last semi final

The fourth and last semi final of Laugardagslögin, the Icelandic national selection for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest was held tonight with the last three songs competing. The two songs chosen complete the line-up of the final on 23rd February.

To the final:

  • Mercedes Club - Ho, ho, ho we say hey, hey, hey
  • Ragnheiður Gröndal - Don't wake me up

Eliminated:

  • Haffi Haff - The wiggle wiggle song

The complete line-up for the national final:

  • Páll Rósinkrans - Gef mér von
  • Magni Ásgeirsson - Nuna veit ég
  • Davíð Þorsteinn Olgeirsson - In your dreams
  • Baggalútur - Hvað var það sem þú sást í honum?
  • Eurobandið - Fullkomið líf
  • Dr. Spock - Hvar ertu nú?
  • Mercedes Club - Ho, ho, ho we say hey, hey, hey
  • Ragnheiður Gröndal - Don't wake me up

In 2005, 2006 and 2007, Iceland did not manage to reach the final of the Eurovision Song Contest although the country was sometimes quite close finishing 16th, 13th and again 13th in the semi final respectively. Iceland will have to take part in one of the semi finals in Belgrade.

Why do most people think Haffi Haff 's Wiggle Wiggle Song is so great. It's awful. There's no melody to it whatsoever. The whole song is practically in mono tone

This icelandic torture last for decades!!! Why don't they simply short list the whole thing and make it more effective!

If Mercedes Club wins, they must improve their live a lot. I think that the tune is very catchy and could qualify easily thanks to the gay vote.

I can't see any chance for Euroband or the other acts, sorry!

When Magni sang alone in the SF the hosts said that Birgitta was skiing in Italy, if I remember correctly, and that she'd promised Magni she'd join him if he'd go through... so I think she will be joining him. Besides, her career isn't as strong as it used to be back in 2003, so she needs this to get some publisity!

I'm soooooooooooo glad that crappy Haffi Haff didn't went through! Mercedes Club will win this for sure!

Surprised that Haffi was eliminated, Mercedes Club should have, their entry was horrible! I was at a concert with Eurobandið yesterday and I will vote for them like crazzzzy on February 23rd. Go Friðrik og Regína :)
Ps. I don´t know if Birgitta will join Magni at the final and I don´t care, the song was awful :(

i really have this feeling of that carola and andreas will fail in Melodifestivalen next weekend not totally bu only go to the second chance round and thats a failure for carola. i think that would be refreshing for the competition. ggooooo ola and sanna nielsen instead!!

Once again, I agree with Fred L...

Victory for RAGNHEIDUR GRÖNDAL!!!

She is SUCH a good performer and Don't Wake Me Up is so fresh and creating good vibes all the way - I simply love it...
Skot I Myrkri would have been even better, but Don't Wake Me Up is very good, too...

My wish for the final would be:
1. Ragnheidur Gröndal - Don't Wake Me Up
2. Magni Asgeirsson & Birgitta Haukdal - Nuna Veit Eg
3. Fridrik Omar & Regina Osk - Fullkomid Lif
.
.
8. Mercedes Club - Ho, Ho, Ho, We Say Hey, Hey, Hey

btw. Can anyone tell me if Birgitta joins Magni again in the final? I really hope so because I like HER much more than HIM...

eurobands performance is hilarious - they seriously need to fire their choregrapher!

good thumping eurobeat song though that should get them to the final

As long as Dr. Spock DOESN'T win I will be happy.

Eurobandið - Fullkomið líf is the only decent choice left...

Click here to watch their great performance during the SF, much better than the previous one.

Wow, finally the Icelanders dug up their good taste and that awful wiggle song was eliminated. Finally! It's a shame Mercedes Club is still on the way, but I don't think it has chances to win at all.

Davíð Þorsteinn Olgeirsson (lovely!), Eurobandið or Baggalútur to Belgrade! :)

I hope Dr. Spock to win and Mercedes club to give a better performance in case Dr. Spock won't...because tonight's performance was pretty awful.

Impossible - the only possible winner for Belgrade !! Haffis song was very good ( for Eurovision ) - now it is gonna be between Euroband and Mercedes Club for sure.

I hope for Fridrik and Regina - the Mercedes Club girl can not sing !!

@ Morgan ...u cannot seriously compare Euroband with Romania 05.
Euroband's only value is that they can sing...but their entry is the definition of ESC Kitsch.

Gef mer von or Don't wake me up for Belgrade.

i agree with Zingo here, i don't think Euroband has any chances to win.. to do well? After all it might do well, they're excellent singers and performers in a very good upbeat entry, and Romania 05 proves us that these two qualities are top 3 material, now will it have the spark to achieve that? one can't tell at this stage of the qualifications in all european countries..

anyway we have to be fair, the icelandic nf was pretty good but all the good entries got voted out way too soon and the only one still in is actually the best one of them all; therefore it is only natural for Euroband to smash the competition and get the Belgrade ticket!

euroband will NOT do good at eurovision it will blend in to mutch and will not get voted to the final

I think Haffi Haff was the only one to get something in Belgrade...!!!

EuroBand to Belgrade!! Hopefully....

Fridrik and Regina deserve a chance after coming so close in the past.
Fridrik should have won last year with 'Elnur' instead of Eirikur Hauksson
