Eurovision Song Contest 1995
The EBU decreased the number of participants back to 23 to make sure the show wouldn't last longer than 3 hours. 5 of the 6 countries that were relegated last year came back to the contest, Luxembourg decided to stop participating totally and Italy withdrew voluntarily, as in 1993. The bottom 7 countries of 1994 were relegated. Because it was the 40th edition of the contest, the program started with a three-minute compilation of previous contests. The winning song came from Norway and the lyrics consisted of 24 words. Ireland didn't win for the 4th time in a row although the violinist of the Norwegian group was Irish.
