Mayor Bloomberg and OEM Commissioner Bruno Announce Winners of "What if New York City..." Competition to Design Urban Housing for Use After a Disaster
Mayor Bloomberg and Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Commissioner Bruno today announced the winners of the "What If New York City…" post-disaster housing design competition. The competition began in September 2007 and challenged entrants to create innovative temporary housing solutions for the thousands of New Yorkers who might be displaced in the event of a catastrophe.

There's Still Time to Get a Flu Shot
The Health Dept. urges all NY’ers, especially children, people over 50 and those with certain medical conditions such as asthma and diabetes to get a flu shot. Free flu shots are available at all Health Dept. clinics. To learn where to get a flu shot, call 311.

Notify NYC
Notify NYC is a new service designed to enhance the delivery of emergency information to the public. During the pilot phase, the City will test different kinds of public messaging, including email, text messaging and telephone, to determine the best way to launch a Citywide program. There are currently four communities involved in the pilot.

VA Disability Benefits Free Legal Clinic
The Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs recently announced that the City Bar Justice Center is hosting a Free Legal Clinic for Veterans with VA benefits issues on Monday, February 11th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Appointments are required.
