Map 1: The Mississippi River Valley.

Questions for Map 1

1. Name all of the Confederate states that would be cut off if the Union gained control of the Mississippi.

2. Circle Vicksburg and Port Hudson on the map. Then trace the Mississippi where it runs between the two forts.

* The map on the screen has a resolution of 72 dots per inch (dpi), and therefore will print poorly. You can obtain a high quality version of the map, but be aware that the file may take as much as two minutes to load with a 28.8K modem.
