How CYS Works For You

The Fort Knox Child and Youth Services (CYS) mission is "Caring".
by providing a seamless delivery of quality care and services for eligible children and youth (4 weeks through High School).  Our programs are committed to supporting soldiers and families because we recognize the challenges of our military families.  By offering quality programs and accountability for children and youth, CYS reduces the conflict between mission readiness and parental responsibility!  We are assessed and accredited by "outside" professional organizations and our Child Care program is considered a "Model for the Nation" for providing high-quality affordable care.

Our Goal is to achieve and maintain standards for accreditation and certification and support the growth and development of all children/youth by providing nurturing age appropriate programs.  Most of our military families have unique characteristics that impact their need for child care services and programs for youth during out of school time.  Child and youth programs become critical to the Fort Knox mission during deployment, mobilization and contingency situations.

Our Job within CYS is to provide programs and services when our customers need us most.  To CYS that means very early morning for PT, having Family Child Care providers with extended evening hours when soldiers have long shifts, weekend youth programs, and, if needed, care and supervision options around the clock.  Some children even stay in our Family Child Care Homes for extended periods of time while their parent(s) are deployed.

Our programs support soldiers and the total work force, which in turn enhances Army readiness and provides the CYS staff the opportunity to serve our country.   Because we are here, soldiers can concentrate on their mission knowing their children and youth are safe and supervised in quality child and youth programs which promote the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children/youth.  Our staff is a unified team of professionals working together, sharing expertise, resources, and ideas that continuously improve programs and services within the military community.

Our Child Care and Youth Programs offer state of the art technology in our computer labs and exciting opportunities through our affiliation with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and National 4-H Programs.

We welcome volunteers to our programs, especially within Youth Sports.  Without our many wonderful volunteers we could not offer many of the opportunities for team sports available to our community.
