Bill Clinton uses up probably 100 times more global warming-inducing fuel than the average American! And that's not all. This guy travels several times a week using jets, which use tons and tons of fossil fuels. So why should we be listening to such a hypocrite? |

My grandfather was forced out of teaching after 18 years because he was Roman Catholic. My father was passed over for a principalship because he was Roman?Catholic. I, on the other hand, did not have to face such discrimination (Brave Teachers Rebel Against Union Intimidation, Coercion, Feb. 12) in my 31 years of teaching because I was a union member. |
If your roof's leaking, you don't look in the Yellow Pages under "college graduates". "...lead a quiet life, ... mind your own business ... work with your hands ... so ... your daily life may win ... respect ... (and) so ... you will not be dependent on anybody..." (1st Thessalonians 4:11)

As reported by the city's finance director, the final Fiscal Year 2006 fund balance is $254.5 million. This figure is a $53 million increase over the adopted budget fund balance of $201 million. Considering this unexpected surplus, I introduced these bills so that the city could make vital, capital investments to these facilities. |
Yassir Arafat was asked quite clearly "Why didn't you sign the [peace] agreement?" And Arafat said in perfect English, looking straight into the camera "If I would have signed that, they would have killed me". (Fox News) Arafat's response took 4 seconds, but it clearly defined the problem of peace in the Middle East. |

The Catechism of the Catholic Church says: "Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception ... Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable ... Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. |

By Oct. 26, according to the data, 346 people had been murdered. The school district was only able to provide records for 207 of the 346 victims. Of the 207, only 49 had graduated - less than 25 percent in a district with a 56 percent graduation rate.

We must remain cautious that old ways of same-o, same-0 be discouraged at the outset. Example: That Madam Speaker Pelosi does not become entrapped in pitfalls of time wasted on spurious investigations such as the Iraq War Panel Offerings: "seventy-nine ways" of what went wrong, and how to fix it! Monday-morning quarterbacking has become a satisfying way of life for far too many experts. in and out of government. |

A society based on laws that can be broken by police is more likely to make cynics, and create a lawless attitude in society, than a society which is careful to create just practices and apply the law evenly and fairly. We've seen that recently in the Iraq war with torture and its use. Or look at our own history in the last century in the 1920s and 1930s.

The latest and most public example of the district's unwillingness to tell us everything has been their refusal to air the Act 34 Hearing for the new Harriton High School. For weeks, many citizens who were unable to attend the hearing requested via phone calls and e-mails that the district broadcast its tape of the hearing on TV. The superintendent himself responded to an e-mail from a vocal citizen by stating that it would not be aired, tauntingly adding "I guess that I will read about this in your weekly column." |

The new English translations for the Catholic Mass approved by U.S. Bishops are a welcome development. The English translations are not really "new" since they are the exact same words from my St. Joseph Daily Missal (in Latin and English) that I used in the 1950's up to the time of Vatican II's massive changes in Catholic Liturgy.

Cheering the Bulletin's return & City Council has no business taking on immigration
|
|
Our pathetically political and frequently corrupt City Council is once again mulling over things we are not paying them to do. Jannie, immigration laws are federal laws, and none of your business except to obey them. What local immigration laws, Jannie? Perhaps a voter ID card? Regan, immigration law requires some knowledge of English by legal citizenship candidates. |

Ceballos / Internet Task Force / Tremoglie Dead On |
There was an interesting article from the AP in the Evening Bulletin the other day concerning the Smithsonian Institution Museums and National Zoo in Washington DC. Admission is and always has been free to the public. |
As a grateful American, I am 150% behind my great warriors. These men and women are in the Navy, Army, Marines, Air Force, National Guard, Coast Guard, Abu Gharib, Gitmo and Haditha. |
|
According to the FBI Crime Index figures, there were an estimated 10,650 murders by guns in 2,004.
Think about that. TEN THOUSAND murders, TWENTY THOUSAND gun laws. We have ALMOST TWICE AS MANY gun laws as murders! Does that make sense?
|
Mr. Tremoglie has identified and analyzed a major fault in our society. While others debate empty slogans and choose up sides based on politics, Mr. Tremoglie takes the time to research an issue and meticulously and objectively describe his findings. |
"The power to tax is the power to destroy." Congress won't eliminate the 54-cent-a-gallon tax on imported ethanol. The result: zero imports of ethanol and zero tax revenue. Congress destroyed the imported ethanol industry, to help the domestic ethanol industry, which, if it exists, is miniscule. |

The media is not telling a story of contending forces, but simply reporting random acts of violence. The coverage seems designed to give the impression that American forces are driving around the country at random, and being killed by bombs whenever the terrorists decide to plant them.
|
|
The moral of the story: Don't believe anything the liberal media and Nutty Professors say. |
To hear the "mainstream press" tell it, the National Security Agency is tapping your phone. In fact, it's tapping everyone's phone! According to the press, this is a clear violation of "the right to privacy" guaranteed by The U.S. Constitution. (The Supreme Court disagrees with the press, but who cares about that?)

This year, we expect millions of Americans to take part in 40,000 local National Day of Prayer events. |
|
True tax reform means eliminating taxes - not inventing new ones. If the present course is not quickly turned in a new direction, it is likely that our elected officials will succeed in "reforming property taxes" by adding both a local income tax, and an increased sales tax to the already burdensome property tax. That is the uninspired style of government to which we - unfortunately - have become accustomed. I propose a more creative solution.

There may well be areas of this airport (PHL) that are first rate, I would certainly hope so. Terminals B/C are not among them. Who is responsible for the conditions that exist in the B/C terminals? The city? The airline? Whoever is, you are a disgrace to the City of Philadelphia.
|
We should STIMULATE young people with GOOD books, magazines, reading demonstrations, choral reading, mathematical games, letter-writing material, and especially the daily newspaper at which point we couldn't stop them from teaching themselves with the elan and enthusiasm of the average toddler.
|
If school districts cannot stay in business because of lack of revenue, then we will become the Philadelphia school district. Is that what we want or do we want relief through controls in other areas? Please let your legislators know that quick property tax relief is not relief. Referenda handcuffs and makes us prisoners to the state.

The economic pull of the American economy will guarantee that anyone from Third World countries who deny economic opportunity to their own citizens who can enter this country will try to do so. The only answer is construction of a physical barrier along our northern and southern borders to secure our borders.
